Heil Ham Radio BM-17 Lightweight Headsets
The redesigned Heil Ham Radio BM-17 Lightweight Headsets are excellent for portable operations, with several updates including the new swivel-mounted boom that allows operators the flexibility of positioning the microphone on the left or right side. These headsets are available as either the BM-17S single-side or BM-17D dual-side model and are now only available in standard black, with "Heil Ham Radio" brand. To accommodate different transceivers, both models of the BM-17 are available with either a Dynamic element or an iC Electret element. The speakers used in the BM-17 headset are extra sensitive, so they do not require much AF drive from the transceiver. Their frequency response is 200 Hz – 5 kHz with exceptionally low distortion and each features replaceable ear pads made of acoustic foam. Heil Headsets feature two different mic elements, so they must be paired with the appropriate Heil AD-1 series transceiver mic adapter cable (not included). • The BM-17 Dynamic headset uses the dynamic element designed specifically for communications use, with an operating frequency response of 120 Hz – 10 kHz. This 500 ohm dynamic element will work on most amateur radio rigs requiring a Low-Z input impedance (usually between 150 ohms and 4k ohms). Legacy transmitters and transceivers that require a high impedance microphone input of 10k to 30k ohms can be accommodated with a Heil XT-1 impedance matching transformer. • The BM-17 iC Electret element works with virtually all Icom rigs and were specifically made to provide the best audio solution for the low microphone gain audio characteristics of most "pre-PRO" and basic Icom rigs. The iC element has an operating frequency response of 35Hz – 12kHz. The -3 dB points are fixed at 100 Hz and 12 kHz with the sensitivity of -57 at 600 ohms output centered at 1 kHz. The iC element requires + 5 Volts DC bias power to operate. The microphone audio for the BM-17 series terminates into a red 1/8 in. mono plug while the headphone terminates into a black 1/8 in. stereo plug (1/8 to 1/4 in. adapter included). The use of the AD-1 series mic adapters allows simple interface with popular transceiver inputs. The AD-1 series adapters are 6 to 8 in. long and has a 1/8" female input jack for the headset microphone while the 1/4" female that exits the adapter is the PTT (push to talk) line for a Heil foot switch or hand switch. The 1/8" or 1/4" stereo plug goes into the headphone jack on the transceiver front panel. The stainless steel band inside the padded top can be reshaped for a comfortable custom fit. Heil Sound's iCM Microphones

Heil Sound HPS-5 Powered Speaker
The Heil Sound HPS-5 Powered Speaker is a great sounding stand-alone speaker with a built-in 24-watt, two-way, ultra-low distortion amplifier. It drives a specially designed 5 inch low-frequency speaker with a 3 inch magnet assembly mounted in a resonant sealed enclosure. A passive extended crossover drives a 2 inch high-frequency tweeter. A mono 1/8 in. miniature (3.5mm) input jack is for connection to any transceiver external speaker or line level output jack. Heil Sound PRAS-EQ Parametric Receive Audio System Equalizer
The Heil Sound PRAS-EQ Parametric Receive Audio System Equalizer is a state-of-the-art audio system that enhances the sound of Amateur Radio, shortwave, commercial, and CB receivers. The PRAS-EQ allows radio operators to modify, shape and improve the audio output of their receivers using three separate equalization controls. Midrange frequencies are the most critical for achieving clear voice articulation in receive audio, especially for those with hearing deficiencies. The PRAS-EQ allows operators to have unique control over these important frequencies. First, operators can adjust the parametric midrange filter from 400 Hz through 4 kHz, with the recommended sweet spot being at 2.5 kHz. In addition, operators can control the presence of these midrange frequencies plus or minus 15 dB. Combined with a low-frequency filter down to 160 Hz, and a high-frequency filter up to 6 kHz, the Parametric Receive System provides operators unparalleled control and quality of their receive audio. The PRAS-EQ has three audio Inputs; a standard XLR, a 1/8 in. (3.5mm), and a 1/4 in. mono 8 ohm input that can accept the 8 ohm external speaker output of any radio.
