DX Engineering 450 Ohm Ladder Line

DX Engineering 450 Ohm Ladder Line is a transmitting grade low-loss parallel-wire RF feedline featuring a strong, waterproof, UV black polyethylene insulation. To maintain the wire spacing between the conductors while reducing losses, the integral flat plastic material alternates with rectangular openings, which explains the "Window Line" nickname. Capable of handling over 3 kW of RF power, DXE-LL450 is a very low-loss transmission line across HF. It is ideal for exceptionally long feedline runs and for low band wire antennas operated on multiple bands on which the feedpoint impedance can vary significantly, causing mismatch and elevated SWR. Unlike coaxial cables, DX Engineering DXE-LL450 Ladder Line maintains low RF losses at frequencies where antenna feedpoint impedance mismatches cause high SWR. It can provide significantly higher efficiency than coaxial cable when feeding non-resonant antenna systems that are matched with a wide impedance range antenna tuner. DXE-LL450 450 Ohm Ladder Line is a high-quality flat RF feedline, about 0.938 in. wide (15/16") with two 16-gauge copper-clad steel wire conductors (29 AWG x 19 strands) that provide the strength to hold up for long spans between supports without twisting. It exhibits a nominal impedance of around 400 Ohms and a nominal Velocity Factor of 91 percent. For proper performance, LL450 Ladder Line must be installed suspended through the air supported by insulators every 25 ft. or less, kept at right angles and several inches away from other wires, and at least one foot away when run parallel to the earth or large metal surfaces. Installing with an axial twist of one turn per 10 ft. can reduce wind, rain and ice loading, RF coupling and RF noise. DXE-LL450 can be mounted with insulators and suspended on metal or wood posts or run along a wood fence line, only if the fence has no wires or metal mesh that couples RF noise or unbalances the feedline. Often used for non-resonant wire doublet antennas, DXE-LL450 can be more easily terminated outdoors to a DXE-MC20-C4-1 4:1 Balun or a DXE-MC20-1-1T 1:1 Balun. Then, with no inline switches or relays, directly connect the antenna system to a typical indoor wide range antenna tuner using a solid dielectric coax, not foam dielectric, to handle high voltage at high SWR. DXE-213U or DXE-214 Coaxial Cable Assemblies 12 or 18 ft. with PL-259s are perfect for this method, which eliminates the need for a special balanced tuner, and avoids the losses and detuning effects caused by unbalancing when ladder line is routed indoors near wires and ducts. DXE-LL450 is sold by the foot, previously sold as DXE-LL450-CTL, this is the same ladder line with a new part number. It is also available in spools of 500 ft. DXE-LL450-5C and 1,000 ft. DXE-LL450-1K, which are specified for DX Engineering Reversible Beverage System Antennas. NOTE: This type of feedline is intended for MF and HF use and is not suitable for use above 54 MHz. Also consider DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line, DXE-LL300, an excellent alternative low-loss HF feed line that reduces impedance extremes on non-resonant HF multiband antenna systems.

DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line

DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line is a transmitting grade low-loss parallel-wire RF feedline featuring a strong, waterproof, UV black polyethylene insulation. To maintain the wire spacing between the conductors while reducing losses, the integral flat plastic material alternates with rectangular openings, which explains the "Window Line" nickname. Capable of handling over 2.5 kW of RF power, DXE-LL300 is a very low-loss transmission line across HF that is ideal for long feedline runs. It is an excellent feedline choice for a low band non-resonant wire antenna operated on multiple bands on which the impedance varies significantly, causing mismatches and elevated SWR. Unlike coaxial cables, DX Engineering DXE-LL300 Ladder Line maintains low RF losses at frequencies where impedance mismatches cause high SWR. The lower impedance of DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line is actually better suited than 450 ohm ladder line for limiting the impedance extremes of non-resonant multiband antennas. It can provide significantly higher efficiency than coaxial cable for feeding non-resonant antenna systems that are matched with a wide impedance range antenna tuner. DXE-LL300 Ladder Line is a flat, high-quality RF feedline, about 0.438 in. wide with two 18-gauge copper-clad steel wire conductors that provide the strength to hold up for long spans between supports without twisting. It exhibits a nominal impedance of 275 Ohms and a nominal Velocity Factor of 88 percent. For proper performance, LL300 Ladder Line must be installed suspended through the air supported by insulators every 25 ft. or less, kept at right angles and several inches away from other wires, and at least one foot away when run parallel to the earth or large metal surfaces. Installing with an axial twist of one turn per 10 ft. can reduce wind, rain and ice loading, RF coupling and RF noise. DXE-LL300 can be mounted with insulators and suspended on metal or wood posts or run along a wood fence line, only if the fence has no wires or metal mesh that couples RF noise or unbalances the feedline. Most often used for non-resonant wire doublet antennas, dipoles, and inverted-vees, DXE-LL300 can be more easily terminated outdoors to a DXE-MC20-1-1T 1:1 Balun. Then, with no inline switches or relays, directly connect the antenna system to a typical indoor wide range antenna tuner using a solid dielectric coax instead of foam dielectric, to handle high voltage at high SWR. DX Engineering Key Line Combiner

DX Engineering Key Line Combiner – DXE-3RIGKEYLINE is another handy gadget that can take the ground-on-transmit amplifier keying lines from up to three transceivers or other devices and connect them to one amplifier or accessory. All four connectors are female RCA phono. After we came out with the DXE-KEYLINE-3 for one radio to key an amp and two other accessories, then the requests for this DXE-3RIGKEYLINE combiner came in. It really isn't surprising that many hams have multiple transceivers but only one amplifier. So, while a coax switch handles the RF, now the DXE-3RIG-KEYLINE handles the PTT keying from three radios to one amplifier. We also have a two-input, two-output combiner-splitter DXE-KEYLINE-DUAL, if that fills your needs. Each keying input of this device is guarded with a separate 45V 2A Schottky diode, providing ground-on-transmit isolation between each rig keying line. Therefore, this combiner will keep the load or voltage of any one device from affecting the others. This device is passive, meaning that it requires no power to function. It is not a transistor buffer and it has no relays. The DX Engineering Transceiver Key Line Combiner DXE-3RIGKEYLINE allows two or three ground-on-transmit keying lines inputs to key this unit's single output. It's another handy device that can be used in lots of ham shacks and it's a great gift item for the Amateur Radio operator who has everything… except one of these gems!

DX Engineering Transceiver Key Line Splitter

DX Engineering Transceiver Key Line Splitter – a handy gadget designed to be connected to the 'Ground-On-Transmit' amplifier keying line of a transceiver. This single-input, triple-output passive DC only unit provides multiple PTT keying lines, two for other accessories in addition to one for the amplifier. All four connectors are female RCA phono. Many special Amateur Radio devices, from receive accessories to simple phasing units and even automatic antenna switches, need to use the same T/R keying line as your amplifier. But they don't have a keying line pass-through for the amplifier. The Transceiver Key Line Splitter is that handy item that is needed in almost every shack! It's a great gift item for the ham who has everything! Developed by Ed, K8IV, you can think of it as an "IV" line for your radio's amp keying output, allowing more than just an amplifier to switch when your transceiver goes to transmit. Each keying output of this device is guarded with a separate 45V 2A Schottky diode, providing ground-on-transmit isolation between each accessory keying line. Therefore, this splitter will keep the load or voltage of any one device from affecting the others. But, the KEYLINE-3 input depends upon the voltage and current rating of your transceiver's transistor or relay keying circuit for an amplifier, so check your manual for the total that it will safely handle. Most accessory keying lines send 13.8 Vdc at only a few milliamps, so this combination typically works without issue. The KEYLINE-3 is passive, meaning that it requires no power to function. It is not a transistor buffer and it has no relays. We really want to call it the "Key Line 3.14" - (key line pi). You know… three outputs from one input with a total of four phono female connectors. But we can't call it a "pie" because someone might think they are buying some kind of non-raspberry micro-PC or something! No, it's just a splitter. So, here's the DX Engineering Transceiver Key Line Splitter with ground-on transmit for each port. Get your slice today!

DX Engineering Key Line Combiner-Splitter

DX Engineering Key Line Combiner-Splitter – DXE-KEYLINE-DUAL is yet another handy gadget that can take two ground-on-transmit amplifier keying lines from up to two transceivers or other devices and connect them to two amplifiers or accessories. All four connectors are female RCA phono. After we came out with the DXE-KEYLINE-3 for one radio to key an amp and two other accessories, then the requests for the DXE-3RIGKEYLINE Combiner and this DXE-KEYLINE-DUAL two-rig to two amp combiner-splitter came in. It really isn't surprising; some hams have two radios and two amplifiers or an amp and an accessory that both need to be keyed. While a couple of coax switches can handle the RF, now the DXE-KEYLINE-DUAL handles the PTT keying from two radios going to two amplifiers or to one amp and one accessory. Each keying input and output of this device is guarded with a separate 45V 2A Schottky diode, providing ground-on-transmit isolation between each keying input and output line. Therefore, this combiner-splitter will keep the load or voltage of any one device from affecting the others. This device is passive, meaning that it requires no power to function. It is not a transistor buffer and it has no relays. The DX Engineering Transceiver Key Line Combiner-Splitter DXE-KEYLINE-DUAL allows two ground-on-transmit keying lines inputs to key this unit's two outputs. It's another handy device that can be used in lots of ham shacks and it's a great gift item for the Amateur Radio operator who has everything… except one of these gems!

Heil Sound Headset Adapter Cables

Heil Sound Headset Adapter Cables are used to interface your Heil headset to your favorite transceiver. Heil AD-1 series headset radio cables are required for Heil boom microphone headset models including PROSET Elite, PROSET, the original and reintroduced PRO-MICRO series, the lightweight, yellow BM-17 series and BM-10 series headsets, and the legacy PROSET PLUS. These cables support all of the Heil Sound Headsets that feature a 3.5 mm (1/8 in. miniature phone) mono connector for the microphone audio. Each has a female 1/4 in. mono dongle connector on a short wire for PTT keying foot switch or hand switch connection. NOTE: These Heil Headset Adapter Cable assemblies handle mic audio and keying, NOT the headphone audio. The stereo male plug on your headset cable connects directly to your transceiver headphone jack, not to the AD-1 series adapter cable. Headsets typically include stereo 1/8 in. (3.5mm) to 1/4 in. (6.35mm) headphone audio adapters. All Heil Headset Adapter Cables use commercial-grade microphone connectors with dual-exit cable clamps that are much heavier than the normal CB-type connectors that the industry had been forced to use for decades. If you have several brands of transceivers, individual adapter cables may be connected to each radio, so you may quickly and easily move your Heil boom microphone headset from one transceiver to another, without having to remove any connectors from the transceivers. All Heil audio cables are wired through to support VOX operation. Heil Sound Headset Adapter Cables are available in 4-pin and 8-pin round connectors, and 6-pin and 8-pin modular-style connectors. HSTA series Headset Adapter Cables were specially designed for the legacy Heil TRAVELER Headsets that were discontinued and are no longer available. Some of the presently available adapter cables feature an extra wire and connector to go to the transceiver external speaker connector, for those radios where receive audio is not provided on the microphone connector. On transceivers that support them, the special UP-DOWN buttons on the TRAVELER Headset cables are connected with these cables.

Heil Sound Microphone Adapter Cables

Superior-quality Heil Sound Microphone Adapter Cables, CC-1 series, are used to connect your Heil microphone to your favorite transceiver. There are two types of cables available for the two types of Heil microphones, 4-pin XLR and 3-pin XLR. Both adapter cable types feature the PTT mono 1/4 inch (6.35mm) jack at the transceiver mic connector for a foot switch or hand switch. Heil Sound Microphone Adapter Cables are available with round 8-pin, round 4-pin and 8-pin modular-style connectors for most transceivers. Most Heil Microphone adapter cables feature the special 4-pin XLR connector to serve the Heil microphones that have a built-in PTT switch. They work with the Classic, Goldline, GM, HM-12 Genesis, Handi-Mic, HM-10XD and HM-10 microphones. Use of an external foot or hand switch is optional. Conversely, the cables with the letters "XLR" in the part number have the audio industry standard 3-pin XLR microphone connector. These cables are required for the "PR" PRO Series microphones such as the PR-20, PR-28, PR-40, PR-781 and several others. Since these mics have no PTT switch, they require the use of an outboard hand or foot switch connected to the adapter cable PTT jack. Features and benefits of Heil Microphone Adapter Cables compared to others: * 100 percent silver-braid shield... keeps noise OUT * PTT control lines are OUTSIDE the shield... eliminates stray coupling * Made using commercial-audio grade 'Heilwire'... strong and supple * 18-gauge wire; not 22 or 24 like others... lower cable resistance * Commercial-grade microphone connectors (patent pending)... lasting durability * Heil dual-exit cable clamps are heavier than normal connectors... robust reliability * Outstanding engineering... lowest-noise transmit audio The XLR connector's quick-disconnect feature lets you easily move your Heil microphone from transceiver cable to transceiver cable, at the microphone end, without having to rewire a boom or remove any connectors from the transceivers. Additionally, all Heil audio cables are wired through to support VOX operation. Don't attach a high-quality microphone to cheap cable! DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables

DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables connect the "ground on transmit" or contact closure provided by the radio that is required to make an HF amplifier switch from "receive mode" to "transmit and amplify mode" when using PTT (push-to-talk), VOX or break-in CW keying. DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables are made for specific transceiver models that have special DIN or mini-DIN connector accessory ports which provide the transceiver's only connections for linear amplifier keying. One type of amplifier keying cable has one RCA phono plug for the amplifier relay jack, which is all that is needed. When the transceiver PTT (push-to-talk) is keyed, the RCA plug center pin is connected to the shield (and chassis ground in most cases) to key the amp relay or its solid state keying circuit. Instead of a direct connection to the amp relay, the RCA plug may be connected to the keying input of an accessory device (DXE-KEYLINE-3, DXE-RTR-2 or DXE-NCC-2), amplifier keying interface (DXE-SV-KR or legacy Ameritron ARB-704 or KD9SV Products SV-KR) or other amp keying line interrupt device, such as a meter or an array controller. Each has a keying input and a keying output for the amplifier relay or another accessory. Another type of amplifier keying cable has two RCA phono plugs, one RED plug for the amplifier relay jack and one WHITE plug for ALC (Automatic Level Control) voltage from the amplifier. The legacy ALC connection does not need to be used with present era solid state transceivers and most modern amplifiers. ALC was required for use on transmitters with tube finals. Some modern amplifiers do not have an ALC output connector. If the amplifier does not have ALC it is okay to leave the WHITE plug disconnected. Order your DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables to connect to your transceiver accessory port for keying amplifiers, sequencers, receive-transmit interfaces, buffer relays, and other accessories. NOTE: To enable the function of this keying cable, some late model Kenwood transceivers require menu activation of the amplifier keying circuit.

DX Engineering USB Isolator

DX Engineering USB Isolator, DXE-ISO-USB is an inline Solid State device that provides surge protection between two USB 2.0 devices, typically a transceiver and a computer. The DXE-ISO-USB is a passive device that requires no power, and it has two ports, one USB A and one USB B. It is bi-directional, so it can be installed in either direction. The supplied USB A to USB B standard patch cable, 19.7 in. (500mm), can be reversed and used for either type of equipment connection with the opposite connector to the mating port on the ISO-USB. A user supplied cable must have the opposite mating connector for the ISO-USB and its other end must have the USB connector type that provides connection to the second piece of equipment or computer. Often, an identical USB A to USB B will be on hand or is readily available. USB interface cables between several types of equipment can serve as a conduit to lightning pulses or other unexpected voltage pulses. For example, a damaging surge can occur whenever one device is connected to an antenna feedline that also has a USB cable to the other device, which is connected to a commercial AC power main, or through a DC power supply. The DXE-ISO-USB protects a transceiver from a voltage surge coming from the computer, and vice versa, it protects a computer from a surge from a transceiver. The maximum USB 2.0 speed of the DXE-ISO-USB is 480 Mbps (Mb/s). This supports RS-232 COM port data speeds greater than the fastest 115,200 bps baud rate selection found in most USB capable equipment. PLEASE NOTE: The DXE-ISO-USB does NOT support USB C Gb/s data speeds, and it does NOT pass sufficient DC current for charging or powering a device. Maximum current is 100mA (0.1A). It cannot be used for data storage devices and is not to be used for charging. In an unusual application, two different user supplied cables, USB A to USB C and USB B to USB C, could be used to provide DXE-ISO-USB protection between two USB C devices, as long as neither device is supplying or drawing power.

The PL-259 UHF Male connector has become the de facto standard for HF and VHF transmission lines. These connectors feature brass bodies finished in bright-nickel plating. Their Phenolic dielectric material resists water absorption, while their gold or silver-plated contacts ensure low-resistance connective surfaces. The PL-259 was the original US military designation for these "UHF" connectors, named for the upper frequency limit of their use at the time. Therefore, UHF Male for PL-259 and UHF Female for SO-239 are the terms recognized around the world. When shopping for UHF connectors, be sure to consider these Amphenol RF UHF Male Crimp Connectors now available from DX Engineering!

DX Engineering Pretuned Quarter-Wave Phased Array Cables

DX Engineering Pretuned Quarter-Wave Phased Array Cables are ready to go into your phased array for 80 or 40 meters. These RG-11U coaxial cable assemblies are electronically tuned during production to 3650 kHz and 7100 kHz, the two most popular phased array frequencies. Pretuned Quarter-Wave Phased Array Cables ensure optimum pattern control and gain from your phased antenna array. They are available individually, in pairs and in four-packs, all terminated with soldered silver-plated PL-259s. These cable assemblies are exactly as required for many 80 and 40 meters phased arrays including Comtek Hybrid Four Square Arrays, DX Engineering TFS4 Four Square Arrays, as well as DX Engineering Dual Vertical Arrays. DX Engineering Pretuned Quarter-Wave Phased Array Cables are made from the highest quality waterproof PE jacketed, direct-burial RG-11/U 75-ohm low-loss foam coaxial cable. They are called "phasing feed-lines" because they are one quarter wavelength long electrically, which differs from the free-space dimension by the velocity factor of the cable. This RG-11U coaxial cable is manufactured to DX Engineering specifications, with a nominal velocity factor of 0.82. That means they're the right physical length to allow for easy burial and routing from the center-mounted array phasing unit to the base of each vertical element. Maximum performance is achieve with properly installed phased arrays, including ground-mounted base-fed full-size quarter-wave elements with free-space array dimensions and complete, interconnected ground radial wire systems. The electrical dimensions of phased array transmission cables are critical to system performance. Each of our cable assemblies is hand crafted and electronically tuned at DX Engineering. Eliminate the trouble and concern of trying to tune your own cables and order a set of DX Engineering Pretuned Quarter-Wave Phased Array Cables. NOTE: Custom tuned phased cables for all other frequencies in each Amateur band are also available. See DX Engineering Phased Array Quarter Wave Tuned Cables.
