DX Engineering Control Line Terminal Boards
DX Engineering Control Line Terminal Boards are designed to provide a flexible and simplified approach to control line surge protection. The DXE-CLTB is a small, 3 inch square printed circuit board (PCB) with four ten-wire compression screw terminal blocks that handle from 14 to 26 AWG conductors and up to 10A. The two outer terminal blocks are for input and output of the control wires and the two 45 degree angled ten-wire compression screw terminal blocks are for connecting the required number of individual electronic surge protection components. This provides for the choice of components to install between the control line and ground for shunt protection. Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV), Gas Discharge Tube (GDT), EMP Suppressor TVS Diodes, RF Bypass Capacitors and other wire lead components are easily connected between each control line conductor and ground with the DXE-CLTB. This open-board, no-chassis concept allows easy mounting on a single point grounding panel, to support simplified inspection and exchange of control line electronic surge protection components that should be done on a regular basis. For effective protection wherever electronic devices are used as a shunt to ground, a low impedance ground is crucial. The DXE-CLTB Control Line Terminal Board has four corner ground plane screw holes. It includes a hardware kit of four self-tapping screws, spacers and external tooth washers, for mounting the PCB on a metal grounding panel inside an enclosure. DX Engineering Rotator Control Line Protectors
DX Engineering Rotator Control Line Protectors are custom made surge protectors designed for use on rotator cables - up to 8 conductors. We routinely protect power and antenna cables, why ignore rotator control cables? These protectors are also ideal for control lines of remote antenna switches and any low voltage control system where voltages are normally below 60V DC or AC. External terminals allow convenient connection while the surge devices remain securely protected inside the metal enclosure. DXE-IS-RCT features include: * Weatherproof metal enclosure with cover, mounting stud and terminal gaskets to deter water from entering the enclosure. * Terminal strips to connect up to eight rotator control wires * 1/4 in. x 20 mounting stud allowing multiple mounting configurations * Each line connection has an individual shunt MOV for maximum surge protection * Voltage spikes exceeding 82 Vdc (in either polarity) will be shunted to ground * RoHS compliant construction DXE-IS-RCT protectors are recommended to be installed on a tower leg or ground rod using an optional DXE-J-1 or DXE-J-2 Grounding Clamp or a DXE-UCGC Copper Ground Rod Clamp. The location you choose for your DXE-IS-RCT should provide a good, low-impedance ground connection. The surface to which a grounding clamp is connected should be thoroughly cleaned to a bright-colored surface and then treated with a conductive anti-oxidant coating. This procedure will minimize weather-related complications and improve conductivity for your DXE-IS-RCT. DXE-CCK Copper Cleaning Kits provide cleaning pads and copper paste which is ideal for this application. If a tower or mast is being used and is properly grounded, your DXE-IS-RCT may be connected to the base of that structure just above the grounding point. For best results, follow the installation instructions carefully. As with all electronic equipment, observe proper safety considerations. For example: Do not install your DXE-IS-RCT if there is a storm anywhere in your area. Do not adjust or touch the grounding system equipment when there is a storm anywhere in your area. Make sure all power is removed before making any adjustments or working on any ground system or grounding components. DXE-IS-RCT Specs: Surge Energy: 6500 A or 38 J (Max energy 8/20) Response Time: 10 ns typical, 25 ns max. DX Engineering Ladder Line Surge Protector
Built by popular demand, the DX Engineering Ladder Line Surge Protector is ready to be placed in line with your balanced feedline antenna system! For many years, hams have asked us for a surge protector for use with their 300 ohm and 450 ohm ladder line fed antennas. Decades ago automotive spark plugs or arc gaps were used for shunting lightning pulses from balanced feeders to ground. But, you never really knew if they were going to work, if they really were continuing to work or if they were affecting the tuning. Here is the modern approach to providing surge protection for ladder line fed antennas. Made with components similar to those used in coaxial protectors, the DXE-LLSP uses much larger capacitors, resistors and gas discharge tubes on each leg of the ladder line to offer excellent surge protection capabilities at high SWR. These components are rated to handle 5 kW, so this protector will easily handle well over legal limit RF power at the high standing wave ratios expected on balanced line. Plus, the Ladder Line Surge Protector bleeds off the static charge that is collected on your antenna from wind driven sand, rain and snow! The DXE-LLSP Ladder Line Surge Protector is built to sustain multiple minor surges. As with any surge protector, there is no guarantee that a direct hit from lightning will be stopped. A replacement parts kit is also available to refurbish your pulse damaged protector: DXE-LLSP-RP Features of the DX Engineering Ladder Line Surge Protector: • Standard size NEMA enclosure; 4 x 4 x 2 in. nominal box dimensions; mounting tab holes on centers: 4.625 x 2.125 in. • Works with 450 ohm or 300 ohm Ladder Line and 600 ohm open-wire feeder • Internal Gas Discharge Tubes, Capacitors and Resistors • Can withstand multiple minor surges and shunts them to ground • Bleeds off static charge collected from wind driven snow, rain and sand • Weep holes allow any buildup of internal moisture to drain out • Handles well over legal limit at high SWR as expected on balanced line NOTE: The DXE-LLSP is an RF only device that does not carry DC voltage. Therefore it cannot be tested with a multimeter. It must be tested with an analyzer and a 300 ohm resistor, or by connecting an antenna feedline. If there is infinite SWR or no receive, the components have been damaged by lightning pulse energy and need to be replaced with the DXE-LLSP-RP Ladder Line Surge Protector Replacement Parts Kit. Order the DX Engineering Ladder Line Surge Protector for your balanced feedline antenna system today!

Alpha Delta UHF Connector Coaxial Cable Surge Protectors
Alpha Delta UHF Connector Coaxial Cable Surge Protectors have SO-239 connectors and are rated for 200 or 2,000 watts at frequencies up to 500 MHz. They are not DC-blocked, so they will pass control voltages in applications requiring the coaxial cable to carry both RF and DC voltage. They may be easily mounted for the most effective grounding with a 1/4-20 bolt or stud (depending on model) in a single hole or as a bulkhead-mount through the grounding panel. In a study under the auspices of the U.S. Dept. of Energy, utilizing the satellite FORTE launched in 1997 carrying VHF lightning discharge sensors, it was determined that there can be damaging lightning energy emissions throughout the 30 through 300 MHz VHF spectrum. Before FORTE, it was thought that most lightning energy emissions were primarily in the VLF range. Therefore, the damage threat can be anywhere from VLF through VHF. Through the careful design of the Alpha Delta Arc-Plug® gas tube module and precision, constant impedance through-line allowing proper firing characteristics, these devices are designed to provide effective protection throughout this entire spectrum. Other surge protector designs may only utilize simple VLF filters with no gas tube backup. Additional features include: * Excellent broadband performance from DC through 500 MHz, compared to the narrow-band DC-blocked or stub designs. * Innovative impedance compensated through-line cavity design allows control voltages to pass through the device, instead of the "wire-around" requirement of DC-blocked designs. This design allows "in-circuit" cable sweeps. * Innovative, fast-acting gas tube replaceable Arc-Plug® module can be removed and replaced in the field in about one minute with no tools required, and without having to remove the protector from the circuit. The "O" ring sealed knurled knob does the trick! * The Arc-Plug® modules and connectors are "O" ring sealed for complete weatherproofing. * Effective performance. Due to the carefully designed reactance-compensated, through-line cavity and Arc-Plug® module placement, customer and government test approvals show this design is as good as, or better than, DC-blocked designs. Lightning surges do lots of damage annually. Protect your equipment from surges with Alpha Delta UHF Connector Coaxial Cable Surge Protectors from DX Engineering!

Paradan Radio Antenna Disconnect Actuators
Paradan Radio Antenna Disconnect Actuators are installed in the coaxial cable that feeds the antenna. When power from your transceiver or station power supply is turned off, they automatically disconnect the antenna from your station and ground the antenna feedline. This reduces the chance of station damage from lightning while you're away. The ADA also has a gas discharge tube to protect the radio from lightning pulse damage while operating. Eliminating the wear and tear on transceiver and station connectors from repeated physical disconnection and reconnection, the Paradan Antenna Disconnection Actuator takes care of grounding antenna feedline automatically. It safely prevents static-discharge, surges, and lightning pulse effects from damaging your radio and associated equipment without having to remember to unplug the system and wear out the connectors. This is especially helpful for stations that are located on upper floors of the home where grounding is an issue. The water-resistant enclosure of the ADA may be installed in the shack at the output of the transceiver, amplifier or tuner—or outdoors in line with the antenna coaxial cable. Connect the DC cable into +12 Vdc source, either from the transceiver or power supply that is turned off when not operating. When power is on, the ADA is powered, and the antenna feedline is automatically connected. When DC is off, the antenna's coax center and shield are shorted together and grounded. The case is grounded to the antenna's coax connector but is isolated from the radio's coaxial connector. The Paradan Antenna Disconnect Actuator LED illuminates green when its two 15 ampere contacts RF relays connect the antenna. The relays have diode protected coils to eliminate reverse spikes, and they handle 1,500 watts of RF from 1.8 to 50 MHz; they also have two SO-239 (UHF female) connectors. As with all lightning protection; these surge plugs will not prevent fire or damage caused by a direct lightning strike to an antenna, power lines, or other structure. Alpha Delta D4 Coaxial Switch Replacement Arc-Plugs® are direct replacements for Alpha Delta Coaxial Switch model Delta-2 and Delta-4 series switches. As when used in Alpha Delta Coaxial Switches, D4 Replacement Arc-Plugs® are rated at 1,500 watts CW and SSB PEP, ICAS, at an SWR under 2:1. Lightning surges do lots of damage annually. Don't let your sensitive Amateur Radio gear go unprotected. Order Alpha Delta Coaxial Switch Replacement Arc-Plugs® from DX Engineering!

Paradan Radio Dual Antenna Disconnectors
Paradan Radio Dual Antenna Disconnectors reduce the chance of station damage from lightning pulses. The Dual Antenna Disconnector automatically disconnects and isolates any radio equipped with two antenna ports—and it grounds both antenna SO-239 coaxial connectors. The two radio SO-239 connectors may also be used for two separate transceivers or receivers. The Dual Antenna Disconnector is excellent for protecting remote stations from lightning pulse damage. The Dual Antenna Disconnector prevents static-discharge, surges, and lightning-pulse effects from damaging your radio and associated equipment. When the transceiver is turned OFF, both antenna coax center conductors and shields are shorted together and grounded—and both coax center conductors and coax shields are disconnected from the radio. When the transceiver is powered ON, the Disconnector re-connects both coaxial cables for normal operating. Power for the Disconnector can be supplied by either the transceiver's auxiliary DC power output or by the station power supply that is turned off when not operating. For stations where the power supply is always left on, the Radio ON Sensor unit tells the Disconnector to reconnect coaxial cable when the radio is turned on. For correct operation the Dual Antenna Disconnector requires a good earth ground. The unit is supplied with a ground wire ring terminal, four wire splice connectors, and a Powerpole® connector pair. Paradan Radio Dual Antenna Disconnector Specifications: * Power Handling: Over 1.5 kW on each circuit * Insertion Loss: Less than 0.05 dB below 29 MHz; 0.4 dB at 54 MHz; 1 dB at 144 MHz * Relay Operating Voltage: 10-18 V dc * Current: 120 mA at 13.8 V, when turned ON to connect antennas * LED: Illuminates green when relays connect the antennas for operating * Relays: Four relays with 15 amp contacts each, protected for reverse spikes * Case: Grounded to Antenna connectors and isolated from Radio coaxial connectors * Control Wire: 6 ft., two-conductor AWG 18 with RCA phono plug * Control Input: Diode protected against reverse polarity; RF filtered * Active Lightning Protection: Gas Discharge Tube on both Antenna inputs * Case Ground Stud: 1/4 in.
