RigExpert Antenna Analyzers
RigExpert Antenna Analyzers are powerful antenna analyzers designed for testing, checking, tuning, or repairing antennas and antenna feed-lines. Mainly, these are SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) and impedance measurement instruments (vector impedance analyzers). Their large, bright LCD screens provide graphic illustration of SWR, impedance; return loss, and much more. Easy to use measurement modes, as well as additional features such as connection to a personal computer (to plot SWR, R, X and Smith charts, etc.); make RigExpert Analyzers attractive for professionals and hobbyists alike. They are compatible with several operating systems, including Windows© 10, 11 and Mac, with software download*. The graphic display of various parameters over a wide frequency range is a key feature of these analyzers. This significantly reduces the time required to adjust an antenna. ZOOM models allow you to zoom-in on graph points for clearer analysis. USB connection allows export of sweep files with Antscope for Android or Antscope2 software to PC or MAC. *(download from the manufacturer https://rigexpert.com/products/software/). Many models have Bluetooth for direct file transfer for galvanic isolation without a USB cable, which provides the most accurate measurements. RigExpert Antenna Analyzers are available in several models with greater frequency range of operational features. Some have SO-239 UHF female connector, except for most models that operate at 230 MHz and above that have a Type N female connector. An array of options are available to cover almost any need for the professional and the Amateur. The following tasks are easily accomplished by using RigExpert Antenna Analyzers: * Rapid check-out of an antenna * Tuning an antenna to resonance * Antenna SWR and impedance measurement and comparison before and after a specific event (rain, hurricane, winter, etc.) * Making coaxial lines or measuring their parameters * Cable testing and fault location * Measuring capacitance or inductance of reactive loads *Send data to laptop for larger graphical display and further analysis. Note: For additional product information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab. Comet CAA-500MARKII Antenna Analyzers
NEW and IMPROVED Comet CAA-500MarkII Antenna Analyzers retain the cross-needle analog function of their predecessor and add a full-color TFT LCD providing graphic and numerical, SWR, total impedance with R and X values (resistance and reactance), along with frequency and battery indicator. Comet was the first to offer a wide range SWR analyzer with an oscillator covering 1.8-500MHz. The new version also provides a very accurate, simple to use SWR and impedance analyzer to the Amateur Radio community. Their analog cross-needle meter displays SWR and impedance simultaneously as you sweep the chosen frequency range, instantly providing the information needed to make antenna adjustments. These Comet analyzers can scan your desired frequency range in seconds, allowing for quick SWR adjustments. Since SWR and impedance, resistance and reactance in ohms are all displayed simultaneously, you are able to determine resonant frequency more easily. These antenna analyzers, powered by six AA Alkaline cells, provide up to 10 hours of operation. With their built in trickle charger, you may also use Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) cells. CAA-500MarkII analyzers have wonderful features: * Auto band sweep function: Switch to the amateur band of choice and press the "Sweep Center" button. The chosen band is swept and the SWR graphed in seconds. * Manual band sweep function: Choose the band, the center frequency, and the bandwidth and manually sweep the frequency range. * Multiple manual sweeps: The graph will overlay manual sweeps in 5 different colors! Make antenna length, position, height above ground, gamma match adjustments etc., and graph each adjustment in seconds without losing the previous graph! * SO-239 connector for 1.8-300 MHz range * Type-N connector for 300-500 MHz range * 8-16VDC external power or 6 AA Alkaline batteries (up to 10 hours of operation) or use Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) cells * Built-in trickle charger (for NiMH batteries, only) * Battery indicator * External DC Power 2.5mm plug and cable included * Selectable auto-power off Note: For additional product information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab. DX Engineering OSL Calibration Sets
DX Engineering OSL Calibration Sets provide the high quality standards required to take advantage of the Open-Short-Load Calibration capability on specific RigExpert Analyzer models, AA-55ZOOM and higher. The advantage of this ability is to adjust for the coax cable being used, so the analyzer will display the "true" characteristics of the antenna under test, as if the analyzer were connected directly to the antenna feedpoint. The inherent analyzer calibration has its "reference plane" set to the analyzer connector. However, the advanced RigExpert analyzer models allow "recalibration" to be toggled on, to use these Open-Short-Load calibration standards to reset the reference plane. Calibrating with these standards at the far end of any 50-ohm coaxial cable assembly subtracts the electrical parameters of that coaxial cable and its specific length, a process referred to as "nulling" the cable. This allows the analyzer's measurement reference plane to be moved to the far end of that transmission line for accurate measurement of any antenna in its proper operating location. DX Engineering OSL Calibration Set standards are built into high quality silver-plated chassis mount SO-239 (UHF female) connectors. They are self-explanatory in their appearance. The Open standard has no connection from center to shield, the Short standard has a short circuit tab soldered from center to shield and the Load standard has a shroud over a potted, extremely accurate, 50-ohm load resistor. They include a beaded tie to keep them together in your analyzer tool kit. The procedure for using the Open-Short-Load standards is described in the applicable RigExpert manual Annex titled Calibration. To reset the reference plane of the analyzer to the end of a coaxial cable, in order to accurately measure an antenna, perform an Open-Short-Load calibration on the specific coaxial cable assembly to be used. 1. Select Calibrate in the Main Menu (or press F+2 keys) 2. Follow the on-screen three step instructions, sequentially connecting the Open, Short and Load standards to the opposite end of the coaxial cable to be used. 3. To apply calibration to any sweep, toggle on or off that specific cable null calibration by pressing F+2 and the "CAL" icon will appear at the bottom corner of the analyzer screen.

Three languages are available: English, Spanish and German and it includes an internal top firing speaker; no external audio hookups are needed. The TW-1 also offers a continuous tone mode for tuning. Simply press and hold the Forward button and a tone indicates power. As you adjust your amplifier or antenna tuner, a higher tone indicates higher power. This is perfect for peaking your amplifier while keeping a close watch on the grid current. You can select either long or short voice reports (verbose or terse modes). Long reports include descriptors like "thousand" or "hundred" and end with "forward watts" or "reverse watts". Short reports speak only the numerical value of the measurement you've selected for a quick reading. The TW-1 needs just 1W to operate, but will handle up to 2000W PEP, making it suitable for everything from QRP to full legal limit. The TW-1 is accurate to ± 5% of reading across the entire power range and resolution is 1W or 1% of reading (whichever is higher). The microprocessor controlled TW-1 can easily be upgraded in the field with a simple chip exchange. It requires 11-15VDC at 200mA maximum (power supply not included) but consumes minimal current when not speaking. Suitable for mobile use, simply install it in a convenient location near your operating position and provide 12VDC through a fused line (fuse not included, LDG recommends a 2 amp fast-blow fuse). SWR Tone mode is especially useful for tuning a "screwdriver" antenna while watching the road. (LDG strongly recommends that you pull over to a complete stop before adjusting your antenna) The November 2005 issue of QST Magazine features an exhaustive review of the TW-1 starting on page 77.
