DX Engineering Guy Line Guards

DX Engineering Guy Line Guards are used on towers to prevent damage to coaxial cable rotator loops from rubbing directly on metal guy lines or dead ends. Guy Line Guards are a high visibility yellow poly plastic tubing material that is split lengthwise for easy installation on existing guys. Each Guard features a single hole for the included zip-tie to secure it in place. For coax protection they are mounted at the top of the guy lines and, since they are yellow in color, Guy Line Guards may also be mounted at the bottom of the guy lines to warn people that the guy line is present. Guy Line Guards are approximately 45 inches (1.14 m) in length and come in a set of three.

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide the appropriate transition from non-metallic to metallic guying cable at the ground end of tower guying systems. Steel Tail Kits are available for Phillystran HPTG-4000I, -6700I and 11200I Guy Lines. What is the function of the steel tail? Here is the recommendation by Phillystran, the manufacturer of HPTG-I High Performance Tower Guy non-metallic guy lines: A steel tail is a length of EHS (Extra High Strength) steel guy line connecting the HPTG-I assemblies to the turnbuckle or guy anchor. The steel tail protects the HPTG-I assemblies from damage due to brush fires, lawn maintenance equipment or vandals. The steel tail length should be sufficient to get the bottom end of the HPTG-I assembly above arm's reach, or above brush tops (if located in a marsh or tall brush area). The HPTG-I should never pass through tree limbs or be allowed to rub against poles or trees. The steel tail allows for easier guy length calculations and serves as a guy tension monitoring point, as well as a safer area to attach guy grips during guy line installation and tensioning. Eliminating the hassle of buying a length of steel cable and obtaining a special tool to cut it, DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide everything needed to isolate your tower's non-metallic guy cable from harm. Three different size kits are available for different tower guying requirements provided by Phillystran guy cables 4000I, 6700I and 11200I. Here are the items included in these innovative Steel Tail kits: - 12 ft. EHS steel guy line, Galvanized, in three kit sizes, 3/16 in., 1/4 in. or 5/16 in. - Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulator, 502 or 504 depending upon kit size - Galvanized Steel Preform Dead End Big-Grips for EHS steel guy line, two per line - Heavy Duty Thimble, galvanized steel, appropriately sized for each kit - Cable Ties, UV protected Black, four, to secure installed Big-Grip ends Note: Phillystran guy line and Preform Dead End Big-Grips for Phillystran are not provided in this kit and must be ordered separately. DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators for the top end of the Steel Tail so that the galvanized steel Big-Grips for the Phillystran and for the EHS Steel Guy Lines do not touching and make RF noise. For three different size Phillystran guy line, HPTG-4000I, -6700I and -11200I, these kits are available exclusively from DX Engineering in 3-packs for each level of tower guying.

DX Engineering Bent Pin Shackles

DX Engineering Bent Pin Shackles are used for guy line attachment to towers for Amateur Radio and commercial applications. Also known as a clevis in the power industry, these shackles are specially designed with a removable bent bolt and locking nut to go through the outer hole of the matching guy strain insulators commonly known as the "502" or the "504" in ham radio tower work. Forged from 1/2 in. steel and hot dip galvanized, these Bent Pin Shackles have a minimum ultimate strength of over 12,000 lbs. and have a rounded end large enough to be used around a tower leg. However, they are typically connected to a guy attachment tower ear or guy bracket, with a screw pin shackle used as a link. The insulators that fit inside of this shackle accept the guy line big grips from either metal or non-metallic guy lines. For those who already have insulators, Bent Pin Shackles are offered in a set of three for each level of guying. We sell the matching DXE-502 and DXE-504 insulators in sets of three. Also available are two kits that include three Insulators of either size and three Bent Pin Shackles. Look to DX Engineering for the unique tower hardware that you need.

DX Engineering Insulator and Bent Pin Shackles Kits

DX Engineering Insulator and Bent Pin Shackle Kits are used for guy line attachment to towers for Amateur Radio and commercial applications. Insulated attachments prevent RF noise that can be created by Two kits are offered that include three Insulators of either size and three Bent Pin Shackles. The included porcelain guy strain insulators are commonly known in ham radio tower work as the "502" or the "504" so that is how these insulators are numbered. They have the mechanical strength of 10,000 pounds and 12,000 pounds, respectively. Each accepts big grip dead ends for either metallic or non-metallic guy lines. Also known as a clevis in the power industry, Bent Pin Shackles are specially designed with a removable bent bolt and locking nut to go through the outer hole of the matching insulator. Forged from 1/2 in. steel and hot dip galvanized, these shackles have a minimum ultimate strength of over 12,000 lbs. and have a rounded end that is large enough to be used around a tower leg. However, the assembly of the guy line and these insulated attachments are typically connected to a tower ear or guy bracket with a screw pin shackle used as a link. Order one DX Engineering Insulator and Bent Pin Shackle Kit for each level of guying. For those who already have insulators, Bent Pin Shackles are also available without insulators, in a set of three. Look to DX Engineering for the high quality and unique tower hardware that you need.

DX Engineering Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators

DX Engineering Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators provide the strength, insulation and isolation you need for guyed tower systems. These porcelain insulators accept large guy lines, dead ends or bent-pin shackles and are suitable for all guyed towers where breaking strength for each insulator is not exceeded. DXE-502 insulators are rated at 10,000 lbs. breaking strength. The more-massive DXE-504 insulators take that number to 12,000 lbs. of force. Stranded steel 1/4 EHS cable has a breaking strength of about 6,500 lbs. DXE-504 insulators are nearly twice that value! DX Engineering Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators provide flashover insulation of at least 12kV… when wet! These insulators will also let you section your steel guy lines to avoid resonant-length interactions or pattern-modifying interference with your radiated signals. They are perfect for use with synthetic guy lines too. Use them to provide steel lower guy tails to avoid vandalism or damage to synthetics due to large animals. Do towers right! Choose a good design and then buy DX Engineering Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators to erect and maintain towers the right way.
