Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes
Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes. bhi Bypass Switch is an audio bypass switch for the bhi Dual In-line and Compact in-Line DSP noise cancelling units, which don't have an internal audio bypass facility. When you switch the power off on these bhi units, the audio does not pass directly through to your external speaker. So, with the Bypass Switch, you can route the audio from your radio directly to your extension speaker without powering on your bhi unit. This can be particularly useful if you just want to listen to your radio without your bhi noise cancelling unit switched on. A single push-button switch on the Bypass Switch provides this facility. Palstar PM2000A Watt Meters measure and display SWR, forward power up to 2,000 watts, and reflected power simultaneously on a dual movement meter system that operates in the frequency range from 1.8 MHz to 60 MHz. Accuracy of the readings is assured with the PM2000A shielded directional coupler. DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits
DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits bring a practical solution to a serious problem when ferrite chokes are placed directly onto the metal boom at the feedpoint of beam antennas. A number of Amateur Radio operators and antenna engineers have known for years about the superior choking function of many ferrite toroids beads placed directly on the coaxial cable, as compared to standard feedpoint baluns. A more recent revelation is that the proximity of ferrite beads on coax taped to the aluminum boom of the antenna drastically reduces their effectiveness. DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits are mounting systems, made of fiberglass or acetyl standoff rods (color varies), PVC carriers and stainless steel hardware, available in four versions. Two sizes of PVC cradle tubes handle two different types of RF bead chokes; 3/4 inch outside diameter (OD) ferrite beads on RG-400 size cable, and 1 inch OD ferrite beads on RG-213 size 0.405 in. coax cable. Each are offered with two different boom size clamps, 2 inch OD and 3 inch OD. Bead Choke Standoff Kits simply hold an RF bead choke and feedline 4 inches away from the metal beam antenna boom (or 4 inches away from the metal mast for a dipole).
