West Mountain Radio CBA Battery Discharge Amplifiers
West Mountain Radio CBA Battery Discharge Amplifiers make testing batteries at high discharge rates easier than ever! These amplifiers are very simple in concept: They are a DC amplifier that amplifies and regulates discharge current (load) with a total of 10X amplification-factor as set by the software. The Computerized Battery Analyzer (CBA) is actually doing one-tenth of the discharge work and the amplifier is doing the other nine-tenths. The amplifier simply senses the current drawn by the CBA and amplifies the discharge current setting of the CBA for a total of ten times the set current. CBA Battery Discharge Amplifiers are designed and recommended only for COMMERCIAL OR INDUSTRIAL use. They are not intended for a hobbyist, as they will easily test batteries at destructive limits. It is NOT recommended to test batteries at advertised maximum ratings--maximum discharges may significantly shorten the life-cycle of a battery. CBA Battery Discharge Amplifiers are designed to be left in-line and switched off for discharge rates that are less than 100 watts or less than 10 amps. At these power levels, a CBA alone can handle the discharge current. West Mountain Radio CBA Battery Charger Interfaces
West Mountain Radio CBA Battery Charger Interfaces are software-controlled and used with a West Mountain Radio CBA IV Battery Analyzer to automate life cycle tests, automatically alternating between periods of charging and discharging the battery. By automatically switching between the charge and discharge cycles of the battery, a hands-free lifetime test of the battery may be performed. CBA Battery Charger Interfaces require a user-supplied battery charger that is compatible with the test battery. When the interface units are idle, the two pairs of Powerpole connections on the interface are in an open-circuit state. When the units switch to charging, the Powerpoles are connected together, thereby connecting the battery charger to the battery under test. The interfaces measure the current going from the charger into the battery, and this current is then logged by the computer software. Adding battery chargers and CBA Battery Charger Interfaces to your battery testing setup not only allows for the full automation of battery life-cycle testing, but it also provides for the convenient recharging of batteries after testing for other parameters, such as capacity tests. These Computerized Battery Analyzer (CBA) amplifier harnesses allow you to tie the CBA to two 500-watt load amplifiers simultaneously!
