DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems
DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems are designed to combine two identical Yagi or log periodic beams, or three quarter-wave vertical antennas, into a phased array for enhanced directional pattern selections and dramatically improved HF operations. There is no need for special coaxial delay lines with the DX Engineering PRO-STACK systems. Just connect your antennas to the system relay unit with equal-length 50-ohm coaxial cable assemblies. The PRO-STACK switch relay units are available with high-quality PTFE-silver plated SO-239, UHF female connectors. The matching PRO-STACK Control Console operates the system with a 1-of-3 source voltage control format at 12-15V DC with a user supplied four conductor control cable to achieve four different antenna phasing selections. PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems operate across the 160 to 10 meter range. They have two antenna ports that can be used for any application requiring the four basic selections: 1. BIP - Both antenna ports In-Phase 2. BOP - Both antenna ports Out-of-Phase 3. BOTTOM - Antenna port 1 only 4. TOP - Antenna port 2 only. The unpowered default is 1 - Both ports In-Phase. Impedance matching is automatic in the PRO-STACK even when any antenna port is disconnected. Generally, stacked Yagi antennas are separated vertically with greater than one half wavelength free space. Since the DX Engineering PRO-STACK Antenna Phasing Systems are broadband, they may be easily adapted to larger arrays. For example, four stacked Yagis may be combined by creating two sets of PRO-STACKS, with a third DX Engineering PRO-STACK to combine the first two. PRO-STACK systems may also be used to feed quarter-wave resonant vertical antennas for a high-gain, 4-pattern array. This arrangement requires three verticals, with the center #2 passive antenna element directly grounded to the system ground radial system at all times, while elements #1 and #3 are then fed in various phase relationships by the PRO-STACK. Details are in the complete PRO-STACK PS-2B Instruction Manual linked here in "Documentation" tab. The full- color printed manual is included with the system relay unit. PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems are available as separate Relay Units for operators who have automated BCD switching devices, and as packaged systems with Relay Unit and matching manual Control Console. Features of the DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems include: * Power handling up to 5 kW * Broadband coverage on 160-10 meters * High impact shielded weatherproof housing * High-RF tolerant, silver-PTFE SO-239 (UHF female) connectors * Proven DX Engineering RF relays for high performance * Safe 12V relay operation * DC-powered control console allows battery or solar emergency operation * MOV surge protection on control lines * External, removable control line connector * RoHS-compliant assembly Dominate the airwaves with DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems. * Important Note regarding DX Engineering Protection Plans and Kit Combo Contents NOTE: Protection plans cannot be purchased for combination packages or on applicable devices after shipment. Select from twelve combinations of in-phase and out-of-phase for pattern and null steering that wins contests and snags the rarest DX! DXE-PS-3B-P PRO-STACK Three Antenna Phasing Systems consist of one DXE-PS-3B Relay Unit and one DXE-EC-PS3 Control Console with manual 12-position rotary switch. This advanced system requires only 9-conductor control cable and standard 50-ohm feedlines of equal lengths to each antenna. DXE-PS-3B Pro-Stack Broadband Three Antenna Phasing Systems offer these compelling features: - Power Handling up to 5 kW - Broad band coverage on 160-10 meters - RF Shielded Weatherproof Housing - unique protection - DXE-PS-3B has High-RF tolerant, silver - PTFE SO-239 (UHF female) connectors - DXE-PS-3BN-P are high-quality silver-PTFE Type N female connectors - DXE-PS-3BDIN has Amphenol Connex 7-16 DIN Panel Connectors - Proven high current DX Engineering RF Relays - Safe 12 volt DC relay operation - MOV surge protection on control lines - RoHS compliant assembly DXE-PS-3B Broadband Phasing Units provide the greatest flexibility for three identical antennas. This relay unit contains a broad-bandwidth high-power 2:1 impedance matching transformer. This eliminates common requirements of using mixtures of 75 ohm and 50 ohm phasing or delay cables for impedance matching. Feedlines to each antenna from the relay unit must be the same cable of the same length and match the antenna impedance. So all of them need only be as long as the longest, to reach from the antennas to the relay unit. While it is best to have feedlines of equal electrical lengths, there is no need to closely phase-match cables; cutting the antenna feedlines made from the same coax to equal physical lengths is sufficient. To ensure lowest SWR, impedance matching automatically changes when any antenna is disabled. By switching between antennas at different heights above ground and/or changing the phase relationship between multiple antennas. The old standard system in stacks was to activate or disable specific antennas in the stack to change pattern. However, with the Pro-Stack system, gain remains higher when all antennas are driven and phase is changed, plus this system allows phase inversion as well as the ability to switch any single antenna out of the array. Signals arrive at your antenna system from different azimuth directions and different elevation angles. Adding a stacking phasing system to a rotational array adds the ability to steer the pattern of the antenna array in two planes, azimuth and elevation, and to move the major lobe and nulls. This is accomplished by switching between three identical antennas that are properly spaced for phasing, as well as changing the phase relationship between the antennas to effect changes in the null positons of their elevation patterns. The greatest advantage of equipping your array with a DX Engineering Pro-Stack is the ability to move debilitating pattern nulls away from signal arrival angles. While gain makes a marginal improvement, moving a 20 to 40 dB null can make a phenomenal change in reception. So, the Pro-Stack can make the difference between a barely readable and a strong signal, thus providing the performance edge needed to work rare DX - and win contests.
