SOTAbeams Carbon-6 Compact Ultra-Light Telescopic Masts extend to 19 ft. and collapse to a handy 17 inches! Their super-lightweight carbon-fiber composition and nested length is perfect for carrying in your backpack. They're light enough to take on any excursion and are easily telescoping for rapid deployment. Ultra-lightweight portable operators, like mountain-topping backpackers, need a special mast to support their antennas. The new Carbon-6 has been designed for exactly this role.
The Carbon-6 has been manufactured specifically for SOTABEAMS. Carbon fiber masts are slightly conductive and so extra care must be taken when using them near power lines. These masts are suitable for supporting lightweight horizontal or inverted-vee antennas. Because of their flexibility, we recommend a maximum antenna height of 16 ft. (5 meters). We do not recommend using these masts for supporting the center of dipoles with heavy feedlines or for use to support a vertical antenna. They are perfect for supporting the center of lightweight end-fed wire antennas. This mast is destined to become a popular choice for the portable operator who just wants to travel light and undertake more "extreme" forms of travel.
Each section is set by friction lock, pulling each section firmly with a twisting motion for best lock. When erecting always start with the smallest section. When taking down always start with the largest section. Mast sections may be removed by unscrewing the end cap at the bottom of the mast and removing unwanted sections.
