M2 Antennas Polarity Switch Kits are specialized replacement driven elements with built-in relays that are designed to work on M2 Antennas circularly polarized antennas for the highest possible antenna performance for your satellite communications system. Circularly polarized beams are typically built with only right-hand circular polarization. However, attenuation of satellite signals can occur when attempting to receive the RF wave fronts of an opposite rotational direction, which is common in satellite communications Polarity Switch Kits modify the original antennas by adding the capability to switch between right-hand and left-hand circular polarization. This additional level of antenna capability allows the reception of both types of circularly polarized wave, for maximum signal capture. Switching is accomplished with the addition of a single DC control wire carrying positive 12 volts to the control terminal on the Polarity Switch Kit's replacement driven element block. Originally designed for NASA for many of their 100 to 500 MHz satellite and spacecraft applications, these Polarity Switches are now used by many Amateur VHF/UHF enthusiasts to enhance performance and flexibility for both terrestrial and satellite applications. The heart of each unit is a small, low loss coaxial switch carefully designed into the driven element block. Only one driven element block Polarity Switch Kit is required to achieve full right hand and left hand selection. They can handle 250W of continuous RF transmission power and present losses that are less than 0.1 dB. Installation is easy and involves only the removal of one of the original Driven Element assemblies and then mounting the Polarity Switch Kit in its place. WiMo Remote Polarization Switches
WiMo Remote Polarization Switches are 4-way mast-mount relays used to change the polarization plane on a WiMo X-Quad or other cross-polarized Yagi. Selectable polarization planes are horizontal, vertical, right-hand circular and left-hand circular. For each band, 2 meters and 70 cm, there are two WiMo Remote Polarization Switches models available, differing by the maximum output power. These remote control polarization switches may be used for WiMo X-Quad Antennas as well as for any third-party cross-polarized Yagi antennas. WiMo Remote Polarization Switches are mast-mountable weather-proof relay boxes equipped with Type-N connectors. Two inputs are for the antenna and one coax output goes to the transceiver. Remote operations require an additional 4-conductor DC control cable, sold separately. Switches are supplied with a mast clamp and the required 4-pin plug for the control cable. The switchbox that would be located at the station is not included. The user may use a simple chassis box or panel and a 4-position rotary switch, or automation control, with an external 12 VDC power supply to switch the relays, which draw 100 mA max. WiMo Remote Polarization Switches were developed in the RF lab of SSB-Electronics and are available only as a WiMo product, exclusively through DX Engineering in North America.
