La Crosse Technology Waterfall Rain Gauges

La Crosse Technology Waterfall Rain Gauges are calibrated tubes or boxes, open to admit rain, and marked to indicate the amount of liquid rainfall. A manual rain gauge must be emptied after each rainfall in order to guarantee correct measurement. Rainfall amount is defined as the depth of water that reaches the ground, typically in inches or millimeters (25.4 mm equals one inch), for each rainfall event. An inch of rain is water that would be one inch deep if not absorbed or evaporated. Times of drought, and the dangers of flash floods when we receive too much rain, are a concern for us all. For some folks; such as gardeners, farmers, and weather professionals, rain data is essential information. For the rest of us, collecting and tracking rainfall information with a rain gauge may be fun and fascinating! Weather Geeks take note: La Crosse Technology Waterfall Rain Gauges are an easy way to track daily rains. Get one for yourself from DX Engineering!

Davis Instruments Wireless Repeaters

Davis Instruments wireless repeaters extend the range of your wireless station--for miles on end. In testing, Davis achieved an incredible 4 miles (6.4 km) of transmission distance using two of their long-range repeaters equipped with Yagi antennas. The actual range will vary depending on antenna height, the terrain and foliage, buildings, other manmade structures, and RF interference. Nevertheless, these repeaters are ideal for agricultural use or research applications where long distances are an issue. These solar-powered models include a solar panel and lithium backup battery. Long-range antennas are sold separately. Standard wireless repeaters are ideal for most applications. They use the same dipole antenna found on all of their wireless stations and consoles. Useful range is up to 1,000 ft. (300 m) outdoors, line of sight. Typical range through walls is 200 ft.to 400 ft. (60 to 120 m). AC-powered models include a power adapter. Solar-powered models include the solar panel and a lithium backup battery. Are you not happy with "just" a four mile maximum range? You may daisy-chain the repeaters to further extend your useful range. Since they operate on FHSS and transmit digital data, you may opt to put several repeaters together. These wireless repeaters may be the solution you are looking for when it comes to getting the data home from the field. Order your own weather data solution from DX Engineering and go the distance.

Davis Instruments Repeater Antennas

Davis Instruments repeater antennas will greatly increase the range of your Davis long-range repeater. Available in directional or omnidirectional styles, these antennas are both durable and efficient. Neither repeater antenna will connect to the standard repeater, with its built-in dipole antenna. Testing has shown a line-of-sight range of up to 1.9 miles between long-range repeaters equipped with Yagi antennas. For collecting data from multiple sensors in different directions over a given area, you can't beat the omnidirectional antenna. These antennas are a great choice for sensor links, or if the added gain of a Yagi antenna isn't needed. You may want an omnidirectional antenna on the receive side of your repeater and a Yagi on the transmit side to relay the collected sensor data to a distant console/receiver. Contact DX Engineering and get Davis Instruments repeater antennas to enhance the range of your weather data system.
