DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide the appropriate transition from non-metallic to metallic guying cable at the ground end of tower guying systems. Steel Tail Kits are available for Phillystran HPTG-4000I, -6700I and 11200I Guy Lines. What is the function of the steel tail? Here is the recommendation by Phillystran, the manufacturer of HPTG-I High Performance Tower Guy non-metallic guy lines: A steel tail is a length of EHS (Extra High Strength) steel guy line connecting the HPTG-I assemblies to the turnbuckle or guy anchor. The steel tail protects the HPTG-I assemblies from damage due to brush fires, lawn maintenance equipment or vandals. The steel tail length should be sufficient to get the bottom end of the HPTG-I assembly above arm's reach, or above brush tops (if located in a marsh or tall brush area). The HPTG-I should never pass through tree limbs or be allowed to rub against poles or trees. The steel tail allows for easier guy length calculations and serves as a guy tension monitoring point, as well as a safer area to attach guy grips during guy line installation and tensioning. Eliminating the hassle of buying a length of steel cable and obtaining a special tool to cut it, DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide everything needed to isolate your tower's non-metallic guy cable from harm. Three different size kits are available for different tower guying requirements provided by Phillystran guy cables 4000I, 6700I and 11200I. Here are the items included in these innovative Steel Tail kits: - 12 ft. EHS steel guy line, Galvanized, in three kit sizes, 3/16 in., 1/4 in. or 5/16 in. - Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulator, 502 or 504 depending upon kit size - Galvanized Steel Preform Dead End Big-Grips for EHS steel guy line, two per line - Heavy Duty Thimble, galvanized steel, appropriately sized for each kit - Cable Ties, UV protected Black, four, to secure installed Big-Grip ends Note: Phillystran guy line and Preform Dead End Big-Grips for Phillystran are not provided in this kit and must be ordered separately. DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators for the top end of the Steel Tail so that the galvanized steel Big-Grips for the Phillystran and for the EHS Steel Guy Lines do not touching and make RF noise. For three different size Phillystran guy line, HPTG-4000I, -6700I and -11200I, these kits are available exclusively from DX Engineering in 3-packs for each level of tower guying.

DX Engineering Rotator Control Line Protectors

DX Engineering Rotator Control Line Protectors are custom made surge protectors designed for use on rotator cables - up to 8 conductors. We routinely protect power and antenna cables, why ignore rotator control cables? These protectors are also ideal for control lines of remote antenna switches and any low voltage control system where voltages are normally below 60V DC or AC. External terminals allow convenient connection while the surge devices remain securely protected inside the metal enclosure. DXE-IS-RCT features include: * Weatherproof metal enclosure with cover, mounting stud and terminal gaskets to deter water from entering the enclosure. * Terminal strips to connect up to eight rotator control wires * 1/4 in. x 20 mounting stud allowing multiple mounting configurations * Each line connection has an individual shunt MOV for maximum surge protection * Voltage spikes exceeding 82 Vdc (in either polarity) will be shunted to ground * RoHS compliant construction DXE-IS-RCT protectors are recommended to be installed on a tower leg or ground rod using an optional DXE-J-1 or DXE-J-2 Grounding Clamp or a DXE-UCGC Copper Ground Rod Clamp. The location you choose for your DXE-IS-RCT should provide a good, low-impedance ground connection. The surface to which a grounding clamp is connected should be thoroughly cleaned to a bright-colored surface and then treated with a conductive anti-oxidant coating. This procedure will minimize weather-related complications and improve conductivity for your DXE-IS-RCT. DXE-CCK Copper Cleaning Kits provide cleaning pads and copper paste which is ideal for this application. If a tower or mast is being used and is properly grounded, your DXE-IS-RCT may be connected to the base of that structure just above the grounding point. For best results, follow the installation instructions carefully. As with all electronic equipment, observe proper safety considerations. For example: Do not install your DXE-IS-RCT if there is a storm anywhere in your area. Do not adjust or touch the grounding system equipment when there is a storm anywhere in your area. Make sure all power is removed before making any adjustments or working on any ground system or grounding components. DXE-IS-RCT Specs: Surge Energy: 6500 A or 38 J (Max energy 8/20) Response Time: 10 ns typical, 25 ns max. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes

Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes. Mastrant offers these products for a variety of applications, from thin support lines used for wire antennas and beams, to rope guys for supporting small and portable masts and vertical antennas. When you need quality rope to install, replace, or modify your antenna systems, consider Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes, now available from DX Engineering.

COMTEK Current Feedline Chokes

The updated COMTEK CFC-50A 50 ohm Feedline Chokes consist of 75 heavy-duty mix-31 RF choke beads on a length of RG400 PTFE coax terminated at both ends with silver-plated PTFE PL-259/UHF male connectors and the correct length of heat-shrink tubing. COMTEK Current Feedline Chokes ensure that stray RF does not flow on the outside shield of your feedlines. They are typically installed at the antenna feedpoint connection. They may also be used where a long run of feedline leaves a remote antenna switch or a tower. They are also very effective at the shack end of a long run of on-the-ground or above-ground coaxial feedline, to block unwanted RF signals and noise picked up on the shield. These chokes provide excellent common mode impedance and handle up to 5 kW from 1.8 to 54 MHz. These chokes are assembled except for the tubing needs to be installed and heat-shrinked after the choke is positioned as it will be installed.
