ROHN RAL Series Tower Base Anchors

ROHN RAL Series Tower Base Anchors are designed specifically for RSL towers. Choose the proper product number based upon the bottom tower section. For example, RAL10 is the correct part when an RSL10 is the bottom tower section. RAL Series bases include a foundation template to insure the base is set in the proper place when embedding in concrete. These bases employ a double-nut system that is used for limited tower leveling after the foundation is poured. When you install an RSL tower, remember to order your ROHN RAL Series Tower Base Anchors from DX Engineering as well.

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire is the same wire as used by the most successful contest stations and DX enthusiasts for their ground-mounted vertical antennas. This 16 AWG tinned solid copper wire is an extremely cost effective solution for the high-count, full-size ground radial wire systems that are required for top-performing HF vertical antenna installations. This is especially true for 4-element Four Square Array Systems, 3-element ProStack Arrays, and 2-element Dual Vertical Arrays. Why is this wire the absolute best choice for any ground-mounted vertical antenna? Because, DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire will last much longer in a variety of soil conditions as compared to bare copper, copper coated steel and aluminum wires. Unfortunately, radials deployed with those other wire types actually corrode and degrade rather quickly, but do so slowly enough that the operator may not easily perceive that degradation in terms of antenna system performance. Full radial system integrity is maintained for a much greater number of years with tinned copper wire. Depending upon soil type, installations with DXE-TCRW16 will maintain vertical antenna performance for many, many years… and even decades. DXE-TCRW16 is available in small, easy to handle spools in lengths of 500 feet (DXE-TCRW16-500), 1,000 feet (DXE-TCRW-1000), 2,500 feet (DXE-TCRW16-2500) and 5,000 feet (DXE-TCRW16-5000). NOTE: To prevent accelerated corrosion and the possibility of noise, do not use metal anchor pins (lawn staples) on Tinned Copper Radial Wire. Use only DXE-STPL-100BD Biodegradable Anchor Pins to hold down bare wire radials. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire is the right choice for long lasting top-performance radial systems for your ground-mounted vertical antenna system.

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits include plentiful quantities of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals that are easily soldered. Along with spools of the same wire as used by the most successful contest stations and DX enthusiasts for their ground-mounted vertical antennas, these kits will help your antenna system achieve optimal performance. The 16 AWG tinned solid copper wire in these kits provide an extremely cost effective solution for the high-count, full-size ground radial wire systems that are required for top-performing HF vertical antenna installations. Ground wire radials do not need to be any specific length because the earth detunes them. Fill your ground-mounted vertical space with radials that run out from the antenna feedpoint in all possible directions, as far as they can go, up to about one-quarter wavelength on the lowest frequency. Even radials that are all about one-eighth wavelength long on the lowest frequency band are just fine for multi-band verticals over reasonably conductive soils. Use longer radials on lossy soils with sand and rocks. In most cases, a greater number of short ground radials will provide greater efficiency and stronger signals than is achieved with a few long radials. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits are available in four sizes: Shorter spool kits, 500 ft. and 1,000 ft., are perfect for the single HF ground-mounted vertical. Longer spool kits, 2,500 ft. and 5,000 ft., are intended for 2-element Dual Vertical Arrays, 3-element ProStack Arrays, and 4-element Four Square Array Systems. Each kit has the appropriate number of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals. Why is this wire the absolute best choice for any ground-mounted vertical antenna? Because, DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire will last much longer in a variety of soil conditions as compared to bare copper, copper coated steel or aluminum wires. Radials deployed with those other wire types actually corrode and degrade rather quickly. Unfortunately, they do so slowly enough that the operator does not easily perceive that degradation in terms of antenna system performance. With Tinned Copper wire, full radial system integrity is maintained for a greater number of years. Depending upon soil type, installations with DXE-TCRW16 will maintain vertical antenna performance for many, many years… and even decades. NOTE: To prevent accelerated corrosion and the possibility of noise, DO NOT use metal anchor pins (lawn staples) on Tinned Copper Radial Wire. These kits contain only the DXE-STPL-100BD Biodegradable Anchor Pins to hold down bare wire radials. Biodegradable staples allow easy installation of radial wires and will disperse in a couple years, after they are no longer needed, making them site friendly. Biodegradable staples work best in soft ground where they may be pushed or lightly tapped into the ground. Since they are a lacto-resin material they are subject to breaking in rocky or hard soil and are not intended to be hammered. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire kits are the right choice for long lasting top-performance radial systems for your ground-mounted vertical antenna system.

Universal Towers Packaged Tower Kits

Universal Towers Packaged Tower Kits are engineered antenna support systems using predetermined straight and tapered 10 ft. sections for a self-supporting tower with a safe maximum antenna wind load rating at a specified height. Tapered towers minimize space and weight while maintaining high strength and high wind load ratings in a completely free standing structure that is durable and reliable. Universal Towers feature rugged, heavy-wall aluminum tubing legs and welded S-bracing made of high-quality aluminum for excellent strength as well as light weight. Each welded truss section is fully assembled, finished and supplied with the required hardware for easy installation. These free standing towers can raise large antennas into the open air easily with a concrete anchored hinged base. Universal Towers Packaged Tower Kits provide self-supporting radio antenna towers that actually fit and work where guyed towers cannot. Universal Tower packages are selected by wind load rating to a desired height. Very simply specified, the first number of the model number is the wind load rating* and the second number is the tower height. There will be no doubt that your unique combination of antennas and mast (plus rotator), with a known combined wind load, will stay safely in the air where they belong. Choose your engineered tower package from wind load ratings ranging from 3 to 35 sq. ft. covering heights ranging from 30 to 100 ft., with nearly 50 models to suit almost any location or antenna support requirement. Choose a Standard Duty or Heavy Duty Universal Tower Package to ensure the best reliability for your antenna system. Each Standard Duty package requires a Tower Base, B-14, B-18, B-22 or B-26 to match the bottom section leg spacing in inches. All Heavy Duty tower packages model number start with "HD" and use a B-30 Base for Universal's largest 30 inch bottom section. All bases have three high capacity 6 inch hinge sleeves securely bolted onto three 48 in. steel stubs with which to anchor the tower into the customer supplied reinforced concrete tower foundation; size depends on tower model. Add the appropriate Base to your package to determine tower cost. Please note, additional truck freight costs quoted by Universal are reported by DX Engineering sales. Universal Towers are special ordered by calling DX Engineering to determine options. Packages typically include a mast collar for a 2 in. OD mast with a welded bearing mount top plate specially drilled for the DX Engineering Advanced Design TB-300 thrust bearing, sold separately. Packages with other mast collar sizes and without bearing top plate are available by request. A variety of optional Rotator Plates are also available. Chose yours to fit the top section of the tower package selected; R-11, R-14 or R-18. Each is available undrilled or predrilled for popular rotator models, "-H" for Hy-Gain/CDE or "-Y" for Yaesu. Universal Towers Aluminum Masts in various lengths and sizes are available as well. For more information on Universal Towers Standard Duty and Heavy-Duty Packaged Tower Kits and tower hardware, click on the applicable "Documentation" link. Call DX Engineering for assistance and to place your special Universal Tower order. For Amateur Radio Operators, communications systems professionals, and wireless systems operators and users, Universal Towers Packaged Tower Kits from DX Engineering are excellent antenna support solutions for better communications! *Wind load ratings are to 80 MPH which serves the majority of the USA and antenna models. Specific open plains and coastal areas with occasional peak winds of 100 MPH or 110 MPH are locations where these tower packages are rated for lower antenna wind loads. See these ratings on the individual drawings of each of the Universal Towers Package Tower Kit models, linked in the "Documentation" section.
