DX Engineering TWIG QRP 9:1 UNUNs
The DXE-TWIG-9-1 QRP UNUN (Unbalanced-to-Unbalanced transformer) matches a high-impedance, non-resonant end-fed/random wire antenna (33 to 84 feet long) to the 50-ohm unbalanced load required by amateur radio transceivers. The DXE TWIG-9-1 covers 1.8–30 MHz and is ideal for portable (QRP) or HOA-restricted antennas. The connector on the DXE-TWIG-9-1 is a BNC female to mate with the recommended 35 to 50 feet of coax cable, which is used as the counterpoise. In some cases, an external wide range tuner may be needed. This UNUN may not provide a perfect 1:1 SWR on all bands without an additional tuner and may experience heating at higher power due to impedance mismatches. Typically, 9:1 UNUNs are used for: • Random Wire Antenna: Long wires of specific non-resonant lengths (e.g., 29, 35.5, 41, or 71 feet) designed to avoid an electrical half-wave, or multiple of a half-wave, on any amateur band. • End-Fed Long Wire: General-purpose long wire used for wideband receiving or multiband transmitting where an antenna tuner is available. • Inverted "L" or Sloper Configuration: When these are fed as non-resonant wires rather than resonant half-wave radiators. Tips on How to Use the 9:1 QRP UNUN as a Random Wire Antenna 1. Select a "Random" Length: Do not use resonant half-wave lengths. Popular lengths that avoid resonance on amateur bands include e.g., 29, 35.5, 41, or 71 feet. 2. Connect the Antenna Wire: Attach your long wire to the element wire terminal of the UNUN. 3. Use an Antenna Tuner: Because a random wire is never perfectly resonant, you may have to use an internal or external antenna tuner to achieve a low SWR for your transceiver. 4. Placement: Mount the UNUN near the ground or on a short support and run the element wire as high and clear of obstacles as possible. The antenna shown in this manual was tested using the optional 24 or 26 AWG wire such as CEW-VIZ24-YEL100 stranded copper, PVC insulated, high visibility yellow antenna wire. The coax cable (with BNC connectors) is recommended to be 35 to 50 feet in length since the coaxial cable shield is used as the counterpoise. The antenna can be installed in different configurations. Wire lengths will vary depending on the installation and antenna design chosen. This is a low power (QRP) antenna system impedance matching UNUN which handles 25 Watts on SSB, 10 Watts on CW and 5 Watts on digital mode when the antenna SWR is less than 2:1 without the use of an antenna tuner.

DX Engineering Three Coax Tower Grounding Brackets
DX Engineering Three Coax Tower Grounding Brackets DXE-3CTGB-2 provide secure bonding points and standoffs for cable shields and connectors on tower installations. They are designed to help bond cable shields to the tower at the top, bottom, and every 75 feet on taller towers. Regular bonding helps keep the cable shield and tower leg at a similar electrical potential, creating a controlled conductive path. This can reduce the risk of cable jacket damage caused by high-energy pulses from a charged tower or nearby lightning. Without proper bonding, energy may arc through the cable jacket and create pinhole damage. The DXE-3CTGB-2 helps prevent this by providing a durable, repeatable bonding point at the recommended intervals. Features of the DXE-3CTGB-2: • Attaches on 1.00 to 2.00 in. tower legs, including ROHN 25G/45G/55G and Amerite 25/45/55 Series Tower Legs, using the included DX Engineering DXE-SSVC-2P Stainless-Steel Saddle Clamp. • Made from high quality 0.125 in. thickness laser cut stainless steel. • Holds up to three cables and connectors apart from the tower and from each other for easy connector weatherproofing. • Provides bonding and a safe conductive path from the shield through the bracket to the tower leg when used with appropriate connectors. • Three precision laser-cut 0.640 in. diameter connector mounting holes on the bracket accommodate up to three panel mount or bulkhead style connectors including: DXE-UHF-FDFB-KIT UHF Flanged Double Female Bulkhead mount kit with stainless steel hardware DXE-363-SST Double SO-239 Silver-Plated Bulkhead Mount DXE-1023-2 Type-N Double Female Silver-Plated Bulkhead Mount • Can be used with other Panel Mount Connector Adapters or Bulkhead Mount style lightning protectors. Additional holes provide bonding points for other types of shielded cable where panel feedthroughs can be mounted in the 0.640 in. holes to capture and support multiconductor cables. • The DXE-3CTGB-2 bracket may also be used as an antenna feedpoint, a wire guide or as a connection point for unique tower side-mount antennas or tower detuning stubs. NOTICE: This bracket is NOT a tower step and should never be used to support the weight of a climber. See the instructions for additional information.

Portable Antennas for Everyone
Portable operating has never been as popular as it is today, thanks to the many excellent modern, small, and lightweight transceivers that are available. But indoors or outside, any station is only as good as its antenna, and that's where this book comes in. "Portable Antennas for Everyone" is broken into sections covering the main types of antenna. Specific designs from around the world are included, starting with a fiberglass pole and a simple 10m length of wire attached to make a quarter-wave vertical antenna for 7MHz. The 192-page paperback continues into verticals designed specifically for use by the ocean and that provide a super-low angle of radiation of just 6 or 7 degrees above the horizon. This book describes how to make a vertical dipole array (VDA), and there's some good advice on kite-supported verticals. You'll also see designs for HF dipoles, doublets, and making your own lightweight HF beams. VHF and UHF antennas are not forgotten: the book includes a dual-band Yagi for satellite working, collapsible 2m and 6m beams, a roll-up J-pole, a 70cm Lindenblad antenna, and even a dual-band beam made from tape measures. Read reviews of commercially made antennas for portable operations—such as the Spiderbeam, the ultra-lightweight Hexbeam, the folding Hexbeam, the all-band SuperStick, an easily transportable magnetic loop, and much, much more. If you're suffering from high domestic noise levels at home, operating portable from the countryside can be a real revelation. Often there is no local noise whatsoever and you find you can copy S1 signals with ease. So now there's no excuse: "Portable Antennas for Everyone" allows everyone to get on the air while experiencing the great outdoors!
