DX Engineering Bulk Radial Wire Kits
DX Engineering Bulk Radial Wire Kits will help you achieve optimal performance with a ground-mounted vertical and allow you to install as many radials as possible. These PVC-insulated stranded-copper radial wires are UV-resistant and roll out easily, unlike the wire that's commonly available at "big box" stores. Any type of ground-mounted vertical antenna—an Inverted L for instance—can usually benefit from the addition of a radial system. The increase in field currents provided by radials improves efficiency and antenna Q. Compared to bare wire, DX Engineering Bulk Radial Wire Kits will last much longer when exposed to the elements. These kits include either steel or biodegradable resin radial wire staples for holding down the radials until grass grows over them. The kits work extremely well with DX Engineering Radial Plates (DXE-RADP-3) to create a complete radial system. Biodegradable staples allow easy installation of radial wires and will degrade and disappear in about a year when they are no longer needed, making them environmentally friendly! Biodegradable staples are intended for softer ground, where they may be pushed or lightly tapped into the ground with a tool head. Since they are a resin material, the staples are subject to breaking in rocky or hard soil. They're not intended to be hammered in; if hammering is required for installation, you should use the steel wire staples. DX Engineering Telescoping Aluminum Antenna Tubing Kits
DX Engineering ATK65A Telescoping Aluminum Antenna Tubing Kits employ twelve aluminum tubes that may be used as rope-guyed vertical radiators. Intended for portable or temporary operations, these kits may also be used in a well-guyed permanent vertical antenna installation. They're a good DIY vertical antenna element for Field Day, DXpeditions, RVs, SOTA, camping, and more. Guying is required (three or four levels of rope guys are needed when these kits are extended beyond a 30 ft. height), so guy rings are included. ATK65A kits consist of 11- 6-ft. sections and one 3-ft. section of DX Engineering's rugged 6063-T832 drawn aluminum tubing. The kit also includes all required stainless steel element clamps. The bottom section is the 2.0-in. outside-diameter heavy-wall (0.120 in. thick) that mates up to 2-1/8 in. diameter tubing with an 8 in. overlap, and then back to 2-in. diameter tubing with a 5 in. overlap. Each sections continues the element taper down to 7/8-in. diameter at the top. The overall length of the assembled sections can reach up to 780 inches, or 65 feet. These kits are well suited as vertical radiators for your custom-designed single vertical antenna or in multiples in a two or four element array. They may be set to resonate on any HF band at any length up to 65 feet by simply removing or telescoping the sections and clamping them at the desired length. DX Commander Venture HF Multi-Band Vertical Antennas
DX Commander Venture HF Multi-Band Vertical Antennas are designed for portable operation. The design is built on the proven success of other DX Commander antennas but optimized for portable operation. Efficiently resonant on 40, 20 and 15 meters, the DX Commander Venture is designed for some of the most popular bands for portable operation. Using the same principals as a fan dipole, with several vertical wire elements of various resonant lengths attached to a common feedpoint. The Wire elements and any supporting ropes are arranged on spacer plates with "speed slots" around the non-conductive fiberglass mast. When a proper radial system is attached to the radial plate, the Venture will achieve quarter-wave vertical performance with natural resonance and low SWR on the bands it's configured for with no antenna tuner required. Band hopping DXing and simultaneous multi-band multiplex operations are supported. The Venture is rated at 1500W SSB/CW, 400W FT8 and other digital modes. The Venture antenna is only 23 feet (7 m) so setup is a cinch in the field. SWR bandwidth is typically 300 kHz on the bands the antenna is cut for. The Venture, while being designed for 40, 20 and 15 meters, can be used on 10 and 6 meters with an antenna tuner. DX Commander Venture Features and Specifications: Ground Post: Supplied with a Fiberglass Ground post. Alloy Plates: Aircraft quality 5251 alloy, laser cut in England before deburring to give that "hammered" look, which eliminates sharp edges and provides a nice finish. Originally designed for military use, this insulation is particularly strong but highly flexible and the stranded annealed copper wire is approximately 19 AWG and is made from 24 strands of 0.008 in. Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes
Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes.
