DX Engineering Coax Cable Stripping Tools provide an easy way to prepare your 50 ohm coax cable for the installation of solder-type PL-259 (UHF-male) and 2-piece solder-type "N" connectors. These handy coax cable strippers work on foam or solid dielectric cables with a precision, 2-step operation. DX Engineering strippers are made with premium, long-lasting, tool-steel cutter blades for clean coaxial cable preparation. These cable stripping tools are intended to be used ONLY on PVC and PE jacketed coaxial cables, not ultra-flex soft rubber-like Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) jacket. Use our red DXE-UT-8213 Coax Cable Stripper for 0.405 in. OD cables. The following cables have been successfully stripped using the superior tool steel cutting blades of our DXE-UT-8213: * DXE-213U * DXE-8U * DXE-11U * Belden 8213 RG11/U * Belden 8214 RG-8 foam * Belden RG-213/U * Belden 8237 RG-8/U * Belden 8267** **Belden 8267 and Belden 9913F7: Some cable labeled as Belden 9913F7 (and also Belden 8267) which has a very "squirmy" jacket and is easy to bend into all shapes without rebounding has proven very challenging to strip easily. The jacket material seems different than the Belden (9913F7 and 8267) samples we had on hand from earlier lots that were used to test the DXE-UT-8213. Belden was contacted concerning this and a sample of the suspect 9913F7 was sent for testing. Belden informed us this was their cable (not a suspected counterfeit) and this is a known tolerance in their manufacturing process of this type coaxial cable jacket. Therefore, the DXE-UT-8213 may or may not work properly with some Belden 9913F7 or Belden 8267. Times Microwave LMR-400UF Ultra-Flex has a similar rubbery, thermoplastic jacket that which CANNOT be stripped by this type of cutter. The new purple UT-8213LR Coax Cable Stripping Tools have been designed to properly prepare RG-213 and 8U sized, 0.405 in. coaxial cables for silver-plated solder-type PL-259 connectors (like DXE-PL259-6). These preparation tools will allow you to strip the coaxial cable with special dimensions to facilitate a unique method of soldering the shield to the back of the connector, proven at the K3LR world-wide contest station. DXE-UT-8213 cutter blades are designed to cut through the more rigid materials encountered with high quality coaxial cables with an OD of 0.405 in with PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and PE (polyethylene) jackets. Our green DXE-UT-808X prepares smaller coaxial cables such as DXE-8X and Mini 8. They have been designed and manufactured to properly prepare coaxial cable for use with DXE-PL259, PL-259 Silver Plated, PTFE Insulation PL-259 connectors and associated reducers, or the DXE-N1001-S Type-N Male Silver Plated, PTFE Insulation two-piece Type-N connector (requires a slight additional trimming of the cable center conductor length) and reducers. DX Engineering OSL Calibration Sets
DX Engineering OSL Calibration Sets provide the high quality standards required to take advantage of the Open-Short-Load Calibration capability on specific RigExpert Analyzer models, AA-55ZOOM and higher. The advantage of this ability is to adjust for the coax cable being used, so the analyzer will display the "true" characteristics of the antenna under test, as if the analyzer were connected directly to the antenna feedpoint. The inherent analyzer calibration has its "reference plane" set to the analyzer connector. However, the advanced RigExpert analyzer models allow "recalibration" to be toggled on, to use these Open-Short-Load calibration standards to reset the reference plane. Calibrating with these standards at the far end of any 50-ohm coaxial cable assembly subtracts the electrical parameters of that coaxial cable and its specific length, a process referred to as "nulling" the cable. This allows the analyzer's measurement reference plane to be moved to the far end of that transmission line for accurate measurement of any antenna in its proper operating location. DX Engineering OSL Calibration Set standards are built into high quality silver-plated chassis mount SO-239 (UHF female) connectors. They are self-explanatory in their appearance. The Open standard has no connection from center to shield, the Short standard has a short circuit tab soldered from center to shield and the Load standard has a shroud over a potted, extremely accurate, 50-ohm load resistor. They include a beaded tie to keep them together in your analyzer tool kit. The procedure for using the Open-Short-Load standards is described in the applicable RigExpert manual Annex titled Calibration. To reset the reference plane of the analyzer to the end of a coaxial cable, in order to accurately measure an antenna, perform an Open-Short-Load calibration on the specific coaxial cable assembly to be used. 1. Select Calibrate in the Main Menu (or press F+2 keys) 2. Follow the on-screen three step instructions, sequentially connecting the Open, Short and Load standards to the opposite end of the coaxial cable to be used. 3. To apply calibration to any sweep, toggle on or off that specific cable null calibration by pressing F+2 and the "CAL" icon will appear at the bottom corner of the analyzer screen.

Par EndFedz® Antennas
Par EndFedz® Antennas are End Fed Half Wave (EFHW) antennas with the match box coax connection at the end of the wire, for convenient and quick stealth portable operations. These single-band and multi-band antennas can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or as a sloper. No ground plane or counterpoise is needed so portable operation could not be easier. Simply hang the far end from a tree limb or send the wire out a hotel room window or balcony. You can use a telescoping fiberglass mast to get the antenna really high in the air and the supplied end insulators the installation easy. Stealth operation in CC&R and HOA antenna restricted locations is simplified. Their all-black construction makes them difficult to see. Each Par EndFedz® features a UV-resistant black ABS plastic housing with a support rope attachment hole that encloses a matching network to allow the antenna to be fed with standard 50 ohm coaxial cable with a PL-259 (UHF male). All hardware is stainless steel and the SO-239 (UHF female) connector is silver plated and has a PTFE dielectric. The antenna wires are either 18 or 26 AWG stranded Copperweld® with 200 pound breaking strength and a tough, 100% UV stable black polyethylene jacket. One end of the antenna wire has a #10 solder lug making attachment to the matching network feedpoint simple and easily replaceable, if necessary. Standard single and multi-band versions handle 100 or 200 watts and higher power versions handle 300 watts. Lightweight QRP PolyStealth models handle 25 watts and are ideal for portable operation because they are lightweight; the MKII model weighs only 8 ounces and the Trail Friendly model weighs only 3.5 oz. Par EndFedz® Antennas require no counterpoise or extra conductors. The EF-ALLBAND-KW model, about 133 ft. in length, covers eight bands, 80 through 10 meters. The ALLBANDKWJR is 74 ft. in length and operates on five bands, 80-10 meters. The 64 ft. EF-40-10-KW operates on four bands. All three models handle up to 1000 watts SSB/CW and 250 watts AM/Digital Modes. The need for an external tuner may vary based on the antenna model selected and the desired operating band. The manufacturer refers to these antennas as "End-Fed Dipoles" based upon the assertion that a "half-wave radiator is a dipole." This is a variant of the classic definition of a dipole which is a center-fed antenna with two radiating legs running in opposite directions from the feed point. Additional claims about the EFHW state that end feeding a half-wave "can energize the radiator 'nearly' as well as a center-fed."
