Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes

Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes. Mastrant offers these products for a variety of applications, from thin support lines used for wire antennas and beams, to rope guys for supporting small and portable masts and vertical antennas. When you need quality rope to install, replace, or modify your antenna systems, consider Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes, now available from DX Engineering.

Yaesu G-5500DC Azimuth-Elevation Rotator Systems

Yaesu G-5500DC Azimuth-Elevation Rotator Systems are specially designed to accommodate horizontal cross-booms to mount pairs of VHF and UHF directional antennas for space communications. Providing simultaneous control of 450 degrees of azimuth rotation and 180 degrees of elevation rotation, they are perfect for EME (moon bounce) and satellite communications installations. The G-5500DC dual controller lets you adjust and keep track of both aspects of the antenna system's positioning. The 120 VAC controller includes an interface jack for computer control, supported by the optional GS-232A Computer Controller, as well as many aftermarket control programs and interfaces. These azimuth and elevation rotators are actually two separate motor units, now DC controlled. They may be mounted together on a mast with the included mast bracket, or independently with the azimuth rotator inside a tower and the elevation rotator mounted on the mast above the top of the tower. They handle a total of about 10 sq. ft. of antenna wind load and rotate each way in about one minute. The Yaesu G-5500 AZ-EL clamshell rotator design utilizes 98 heavy 7/16-inch dual-stacked circumferential ball bearings to distribute load over the full diameter of the housing. This design minimizes stress and wear, and practically eliminates the possibility of destructive water entry: there is no shaft hole in the top of the housing. Yaesu's factory-lubricated rotator units are housed in Melamine resin-coated die-cast aluminum intended to provide maintenance-free operation under all climatic conditions. IMPORTANT NOTE: Beginning in 2019 the new Yaesu G-5550DC azimuth and elevation motors operate with two independent 22 V DC control lines, each a five-wire system, using the same connectors at the end of the control cable as the previous models. Both of the new DC motors, azimuth, and elevation, are marked "G-5550DC" at the connector. Be sure to mark your connectors AZ or EL. The rear panel of the controller is titled "G-5500DC" on the serial number label. WARNING: The legacy Yaesu G-5500 Rotator motors and controller used a 26 VAC control voltage, six-wire system. Therefore, old AC controllers are NOT compatible with new DC rotator motors, and new DC controllers are not compatible with old AC rotator motors. All control cable assemblies for all modern Yaesu rotator systems use the same connectors with "1 to 1 pin-out" connector wiring. Therefore, older cable assemblies are compatible with the new Yaesu G-5500DC components, which only use pins 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in each connector. For control cable runs less than 125 ft. use five-conductor, 20 gauge control cable (5 x 20 AWG). If the rotator cable needs to be longer than 125 ft. then use five-conductor 18 gauge cable (5 x 18 AWG). The input voltage for the G-5500DC controller is labeled "117 VAC" to indicate house current range of 110 to 120 Vac. When you are launching your EME or satellite communications adventure, an azimuth/elevation combination rotator is a vital tool for your antenna system. As durable as they are attractive, Yaesu G-5500DC Azimuth-Elevation Rotator Systems are available from DX Engineering.

DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems

Imagine adjusting the controls to knock out strong interfering stations or noise—and then being able to copy and log that weak DX station. By successfully combining the right antennas with the advanced phasing capabilities of the NCC-2, this is the operating thrill that every radio enthusiast can enjoy, again and again! DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems are variable phasing controllers that combine the 300 kHz- 30MHz received signals from one transmit antenna and one receive antenna, or from two dedicated receive antennas. Combining signals from two stationary antennas physically spaced 1/10 to 1/2 wavelength apart creates an array pattern with signal peaks and dips called nulls. Adjusting the NCC-2 Phase and Balance controls have the effect of electronically rotating or steering that pattern. Steering the null direction to significantly weaken a local or distant interfering signal or noise is known as "Noise Cancelling." This "Noise Cancelling Controller" (NCC-2) can dramatically enhance the reception of weak signals from non-null directions. This "reverse-beam" capability on radio frequencies AM Broadcast through HF can provide amazing benefits for many types of AM DX and SWL receiving and ham radio operating. Work new DX, hear the weak station in casual regional conversations, snag the rare multiplier in contests and hear beyond the noise and interference in dire circumstances. DX Engineering NCC-2 Phasing Systems now feature the built-in RTR Receive-Transmit Interface relay system that expands the exciting benefits of antenna phasing for interference reduction in two ways: * First, the NCC-2 can combine signals from the HF transmit antenna and a separate receive antenna to effectively notch-out strong stations or noise. Almost any Amateur can now enjoy the benefits of antenna phasing and noise-nulling, even those with space limitations for separating the receiving and transmitting antennas. * Second, the user of any standard HF transceiver that lacks a separate receive antenna input can have enhanced reception of noise and signal nulling with the DXE-NCC-2 and two antennas. Rear panel SO-239, F and BNC connectors make the NCC-2 extremely versatile and easy to connect to almost any receiver or HF transceiver up to 200 watts. Redesigned with plug-in modular circuit board sockets, the NCC-2 includes one switched and powered internal slot and two passive internal slots per channel to accommodate these new options: * DXE-RPA-2-PM Receive Preamplifier Plug-In Modules (powered): one per channel for low-signal passive antennas with poor ground conditions * DXE-RG5000HD-PM Receiver Guard 5000HD Plug-In Module (passive): Front-end protection for the NCC-2 and the receiver * DXE-IT-PM 75 to 50 ohm Impedance Transformer Plug-In Module (passive): to match 75 ohm RX ANT feedlines to NCC-2 50 ohm internal impedance * NCC-2 Receive Filter Sets (passive, non-switchable): High Pass, Band Pass and Low Pass Filters for 160, 80, 40 meters typically in stock, with other band filters available individually by special order. SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers

SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers are low-noise, band-specific, weatherproof preamplifiers designed for installation near VHF and UHF antennas. Available for the 6 meter, 4 meter (Europe), 2 meter and 70 cm Amateur bands, these preamplifiers are installed in-line, at the antenna. They improve receive performance by amplifying weak signals before feedline loss can reduce them. Powering and Sequencing Most models can be powered remotely through the coaxial cable, and many modern transceivers include a built-in bias-tee for mast-mounted preamplifiers. If the transceiver or transverter system does not provide power, an external bias-tee or remote-feed unit is required. • The DCW-15 and DCW 2004B provide sequencing support. • The DCC-12 does not provide sequencing. • SP series preamplifiers include a built-in RF VOX circuit for safe operations up to 100 watts; for transmit power above 100 watts, PTT control with a sequencer is required. Some models require a direct DC connection (UHF female). • -S series preamplifiers feature lower current signal relays with slightly higher insertion loss. • MHP and MHP-S series preamplifiers versions require sequencer control (see below). Signal Filtering and Switching Built-in helix filters effectively reject out-of-band signals, helping maintain clean receive performance. Real coaxial relays handle transmit/receive switching, resulting in very low insertion loss (except for SP-S series). And each amplifier is carefully calibrated at multiple test stations before packaging. Dual-Band Models Dual-band models include built-in diplexers, so they require only one connection for the multiband antenna and one connection for the station coaxial cable. MHP Series for Demanding Stations The MHP series is designed for demanding operating environments and provides higher gain for weak-signal modes such as Tropo-DX and EME. With maximum transmit power handling of 1500 watts on 6m and 2000 watts on 2m and 70cm, these preamplifiers are well suited for contesting, DX, and EME operation. Important Note for MHP Models Bias-tee power (on the RF coax) is not supported in most MHP Preamplifiers. They must be powered directly using the appropriate cable size for the required distance, and they may only be operated with a correctly wired sequencer, such as the DCW 2004 B Sequence Controller. Transmitting high power without a directly wired sequencer is likely to damage the MHP preamplifier. Housing and Hardware All SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers are supplied in UV-resistant, weatherproof housings with Type N female connectors. Hot-dip galvanized clamps and stainless steel mounting hardware are included. See individual models for band coverage and detailed specifications.

Diex Antennas Multi-Band Trap Shortened Rigid Rotatable Dipoles

Diex Antennas Multi-Band Trap Shortened Rigid Rotatable Dipoles offer high performance multi-band HF operations, and they are an excellent choice where there's not enough space for a full-size dipole or Yagi. Crafted with precision in Brazil using quality materials, these aluminum tubing antennas are designed to withstand tough environments assuring long-lasting, exceptional performance. They are packed partially assembled, saving valuable time and effort. Typically mounted on a rotating mast, these unique multi-band HF antennas provide high-band directionality depending upon installed height above ground. Given the nature of shortened low-band antennas with limited SWR bandwidth, these antennas feature the flexibility of physical adjustment to set the lowest SWR to a specific frequency. DIEX Antennas Multi-Band Trap Shortened Rigid Rotatable Dipoles power handling is 1500W PEP SSB, which is further limited if using an antenna tuner. NOTE: Diex Antennas recommends that a directional HF antenna should be mounted on a tower at a minimum height of 33 to 50 ft. (10 - 15 meters) above ground level and must be installed in the clear, away from power lines, trees, buildings or other towers and antennas.

DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems

DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four-Square Systems bring together the highest level of engineering excellence with the practical realities of operator convenience and ease of installation. These four-square hybrid systems are available in versions for the 160, 80, and 40 meter bands. They can be easily dropped into your quarter-wave spaced vertical 4-antenna array to provide optimum directional control. They allow the operator to receive or transmit with 5.5 dB gain in any one of four directions with a 20+ dB front-to-back ratio for interference reduction from unwanted directions. You can also switch to a single Omni-directional pattern with a push of a single button. This combination permits you to listen "all-around," unhindered by pattern nulls, and then select the best direction for signal reception and noise rejection. TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems are designed for use with four monoband vertical antennas placed at the corners of a square that is one-quarter wavelength on a side. The vertical element must be ungrounded and resonant in the desired band, and should be directly base-fed by the coaxial cable phasing lines from the centrally located controller (shunt-fed towers or radiating elements cannot be used). DX Engineering has several vertical antennas that are well suited for this application. Above all, a properly designed and installed radial system is necessary for top antenna performance, whether it's a single vertical or a full array. DX Engineering strongly recommends our optional Q75- series quarter wavelength cables constructed from our own high quality DXE-11U coax. It features a waterproof PE jacket, foam dielectric and has a velocity factor of 82 percent. These cables are electronically pruned to a precise electrical length derived from your choice of center operating frequency, terminated with hand-soldered silver-PTFE PL-259 connectors and weather-sealed with shrinkable tubing. Finally, each cable is tested for high voltage breakdown for maximum reliability and power handling. Since the transmit power is divided by the controller, the coaxial cable can handle QRO power with ease. If you already have a four-square array with a hybrid controller and would like to upgrade to improved performance and the Omni feature, the DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems are a direct transplant. BCD logic switching allows for the use of a 4-wire control cable to perform the necessary switching functions when powered by the included control console. DX Engineering PS-3B PRO-STACK Three Antenna Phasing Units

DX Engineering PS-3B PRO-STACK Three Antenna Phasing Units offer the ultimate performance for combining three identical Yagi or Log Periodic directional antennas and may be used for vertical antennas in a phased array that cover any band, from 160 through 10 meters. Pro-Stack frequency independent broadband phasing devices operate optimally with three properly spaced mono-band antennas, but can be used with three identical stacked multi-band beam antennas, for pattern and null steering that wins contests and snags the rarest DX! Signals arrive at your antenna system from different azimuth directions and different elevation angles. Adding a stacking phasing system to a rotational array adds the ability to steer the pattern of the antenna array in two planes, azimuth and elevation, and to move the major lobe and nulls. The greatest advantage of Pro-Stack arrays is the ability to move harmful pattern nulls away from signal arrival angles. While gain makes a marginal improvement, moving a 20 to 40 dB null can be a phenomenal change, so the Pro-Stack can make the difference between a barely readable and a strong signal, providing the performance edge needed to work rare DX - and win contests. DXE-PS-3B Pro-Stack Phasing Units are 50 ohm relay systems that handle up to 5 kW. A separate user-supplied automated controller or the optional DX Engineering DXE-EC-PS3 Control Console for these 12-position rotary switch selections: - Three antenna ports in phase, default with no power to control console. - Antenna port 1 only - Antenna port 2 only - Antenna port 3 only - Port 2 out of phase, Port 3 in phase - Port 1 out of phase, Port 3 in phase - Port 1 out of phase, Port 2 in phase - Ports 2 and 3 in phase - Ports 1 and 3 in phase - Ports 1 and 2 in phase - Ports 1 and 2 in phase, Port 3 out of phase - Ports 1 and 3 in phase, Port 2 out of phase - Port 1 out of phase, Ports 2 and 3 in phase These PRO-STACK units may also be used for other applications requiring these feedline selections. To ensure lowest SWR, impedance matching automatically changes when any antenna is disabled. By switching between antennas at different heights above ground and/or changing the phase relationship between multiple antennas. The old standard system in stacks was to activate or disable specific antennas in the stack to change pattern. However, with the Pro-Stack system, gain remains higher when all antennas are driven and phase is changed, plus this system allows phase inversion as well as the ability to switch any single antenna out of the array. DXE-PS-3B Broadband Phasing Units provide the greatest flexibility for three identical antennas. This relay unit contains a broad-bandwidth high-power 2:1 impedance matching transformer. This eliminates common requirements of using mixtures of 75 ohm and 50 ohm phasing or delay cables for impedance matching. Feedlines to each antenna from the relay unit must be the same cable of the same length and match the antenna impedance. DXE-PS-3B Pro-Stack Broadband Three Antenna Phasing Units feature: - Power Handling up to 5 kW - Broad band coverage on 160-10 meters - RF Shielded Weatherproof Housing - unique protection - DXE-PS-3B has High-RF tolerant, silver - PTFE UHF connectors - DXE-PS-3BDIN has Amphenol Connex 7/16 DIN Panel Connectors - DXE-PS-3BN-P are made with high-quality silver-PTFE Type N female connectors - Proven high current DX Engineering RF Relays - Safe 12 volt dc relay operation - MOV surge protection on control lines - RoHS compliant assembly Get a DX Engineering PS-3B PRO-STACK Three Antenna Phasing System for your winning antenna array.

DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems

DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems are designed to combine two identical Yagi or log periodic beams, or three quarter-wave vertical antennas, into a phased array for enhanced directional pattern selections and dramatically improved HF operations. There is no need for special coaxial delay lines with the DX Engineering PRO-STACK systems. Just connect your antennas to the system relay unit with equal-length 50-ohm coaxial cable assemblies. The PRO-STACK switch relay units are available with high-quality PTFE-silver plated SO-239, UHF female connectors. The matching PRO-STACK Control Console operates the system with a 1-of-3 source voltage control format at 12-15V DC with a user supplied four conductor control cable to achieve four different antenna phasing selections. PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems operate across the 160 to 10 meter range. They have two antenna ports that can be used for any application requiring the four basic selections: 1. BIP - Both antenna ports In-Phase 2. BOP - Both antenna ports Out-of-Phase 3. BOTTOM - Antenna port 1 only 4. TOP - Antenna port 2 only. The unpowered default is 1 - Both ports In-Phase. Impedance matching is automatic in the PRO-STACK even when any antenna port is disconnected. Generally, stacked Yagi antennas are separated vertically with greater than one half wavelength free space. Since the DX Engineering PRO-STACK Antenna Phasing Systems are broadband, they may be easily adapted to larger arrays. For example, four stacked Yagis may be combined by creating two sets of PRO-STACKS, with a third DX Engineering PRO-STACK to combine the first two. PRO-STACK systems may also be used to feed quarter-wave resonant vertical antennas for a high-gain, 4-pattern array. This arrangement requires three verticals, with the center #2 passive antenna element directly grounded to the system ground radial system at all times, while elements #1 and #3 are then fed in various phase relationships by the PRO-STACK. Details are in the complete PRO-STACK PS-2B Instruction Manual linked here in "Documentation" tab. The full- color printed manual is included with the system relay unit. PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems are available as separate Relay Units for operators who have automated BCD switching devices, and as packaged systems with Relay Unit and matching manual Control Console. DX Engineering DVA Dual Vertical Array Systems

DX Engineering DVA Dual Vertical Array Systems are advanced phasing systems that have set a new standard for array performance with two ground-mounted verticals. Dual Vertical Array Systems include a compact DVA Phasing Relay Unit made specifically for an individual HF band and an EC-DVA Directional Control Console. DX Engineering Dual Vertical Arrays produce two opposite enhanced End-Fire Cardioid patterns and one Broadside-Omni pattern. Heavy-duty components handle over 2 kW continuous RF power for enhanced performance at low SWR over a wide bandwidth. The Dual Vertical Array end-fire directional patterns achieve a real front-to-back over 20 dB with typical array forward gain up to 3 dB over a single vertical. The greatest advantage of a Dual Vertical Array is that a tower and rotator are not required, as with a Yagi antenna. Especially for 160, 80, and 40, and even on the other HF bands, a Dual Vertical Array is mechanically simpler and safer. Here is a financially practical directional antenna that is much easier to install! These are great directional antenna systems for temporary and Field Day operation, as well as for permanent builds, because they ARE so much easier to install than a beam! If you are dissatisfied with your present system, are ready for an upgrade, or just need to get out of the tower game, the DX Engineering DVA is your answer! Refurbish an existing antenna system, equip your temporary array, or build a new phased array with a DVA. It's all on the ground, safe and simple: DX Engineering Dual Vertical Arrays offer a better way to enjoy a high-performance mono-band directional antenna. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information.
