DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 20 Baluns and Feedline Chokes
The present-day DX Engineering was launched in the year 2000. To celebrate our 20th Anniversary in the year 2020 we have developed a new line of Baluns and Feedline Chokes. Introducing DX Engineering "Maxi-Core® 20" Baluns and Feedline Chokes. They reduce or eliminate currents on the outside of your feedline allowing you to hear and to be heard much better. They keep more RFI/BCI out of your antenna and receiver and transfer more of your transmitted signal to the antenna for higher efficiency, the best antenna pattern and maximum performance. Signaling a new era of RF performance across the 1.8 to 54 MHz frequency range, DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 20 Baluns and Feedline Chokes handle full-legal-power-plus and provide higher common mode impedance (CMI) across a greater frequency range than competing models and even previous DX Engineering and Comtek models. Years of R&D coupled with major advancements in test equipment and techniques combined with custom ferrite materials have allowed our engineering team to design the DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 20 Baluns and Feedline Chokes. Maxi-Core® 20 Baluns and Chokes have high CMI across the AM Broadcast band and the HF/6M spectrum, which is essential to provide sufficient suppression of unwanted transmitted and received RFI/BCI current on the feedline shield exterior. Hear and be heard with DXE Maxi-Core® 20 Baluns and Feedline Chokes. Choose superior performance from these models: * DXE-MC20-1-1 Maxi-Core® 20 - 1:1 Current Choke Balun - For all HF-6m balanced antennas with a 50 ohm feedpoint, including resonant dipoles, loops, Yagis, beams, etc. * DXE-MC20-FC Maxi-Core® 20 - 1:1 Feedline Choke – This high CMI line isolator is perfect for use in line on 50 ohm coaxial feedlines, at the antenna, tower or shack end of the feedline. * DXE-MC20-1-1T Maxi-Core® 20 - 1:1 Current Choke Balun – This 1:1 "T" model is for force feeding antennas with a tuner. Use it at the end of ladder line of any impedance or mounted on a coax fed non-resonant antenna. This model tolerates operation at high SWR on non-resonant multi-band antennas. * DXE-MC20-C4-1 Maxi-Core® 20 - 4:1 Current Choke Balun is for use on antennas with a 200 ohm feedpoint and at the end of any impedance ladder line, especially on antenna systems with higher impedance. This model tolerates operation at high SWR on non-resonant multi-band antennas. * DXE-MC20-V4-1 Maxi-Core® 20 - 4:1 Voltage Balun is a 200 ohm to 50 ohm transformer for use on random long-wire and OCF antenna applications. This true voltage balun is intentionally designed with low CMI for antennas that need a transformer without RF choking for easier antenna tuner operation and it tolerates elevated SWR. Maxi-Core® 20 Baluns and Feedline Chokes are built into a convenient weather resistant NEMA enclosure that is mounted easily with optional brackets. They feature 1/4-20 stainless steel hardware and a high quality silver-plated PTFE dielectric SO-239 (UHF female) input connector. ACOM 1500 HF + 6 Meter Linear Amplifiers are user-friendly and look after themselves. They are designed to safely withstand up to 300 watts of reflected power and up to 100 milliseconds duration of drive spikes. These amplifiers also continue to function with "soft" AC mains and will deliver more than half power at only 85 percent of nominal mains voltage. They can withstand voltage drops for up to 10 milliseconds and can tolerate 15 percent mains voltage spikes. This level of tolerance is especially important on Field Day, during DXpeditions, and at portable operating events where emergency power is relied upon. Please see the SPECIAL Note, below. The True Resistance Indicator (TRI) is a powerful tuning aid that helps the operator to quickly and precisely match the antenna impedance to the optimum tube load impedance. The auto-operate function (when enabled) maintains the amplifier in the OPERATE mode, thus avoiding unnecessary manual operations. Your ACOM amplifier will enable you to change antennas virtually instantaneously and allow you to use your antennas over wider frequency ranges. Broadband input matching presents a very good load to the transceiver over the entire spectrum of 1.8-54 MHz. These amplifiers produce virtually-silent QSK. The input bypassing and vacuum antenna relays are virtually silent even in the CW QSK mode; thanks to specially designed mounting hardware. ACOM 1500 amplifiers utilize a single 4CX1000A ceramic and metal radial-beam tetrode vacuum tube with plate dissipation of 1,000 watts. ACOM 1010 HF Linear Amplifiers
ACOM 1010 HF Linear Amplifiers cover all bands from 1.8 through 29.7 MHz. They provide over 700 W PEP output (or 500 W continuous-modes) with less than 60 watts of drive and operate without special transceiver signaling; they need only "ground on TX" and the required drive. ACOM's exclusive True Resistance Indicator (TRI); enables faster antenna changes and use over wider frequency ranges. Also, a built-in antenna selector switch with two outputs is included to provide instant choice of antennas. Antenna matching can be achieved in less than 10 seconds and at a quarter of nominal output power, which results in lower risk of interference to other stations and greater safety to the amplifier components. A single ACOM 4CX800A high-performance ceramic-metal tetrode with plate dissipation of 800 watts is used for maximum efficiency. These amplifiers are self-monitoring. They are designed to safely withstand up to 240 watts of reflected power, up to 100 milliseconds of drive spikes (RF "tails" after a PTT or KEY release), and even operator tuning errors. They are also capable of operating at more than half their designed output at only 75 percent of nominal line voltage. Because they can tolerate deep voltage drops and 15 percent line voltage spikes, they are particularly well-suited for use in portable environments, such as Field Day and DXpeditions. Importantly, a variety of system parameters are continuously monitored and available to the operator to assure safe and efficient amplifier operation. Design of the high-voltage power supply eliminates the danger of turn-on transients affecting sensitive devices connected to the same line (mains) circuit. Moreover, the amplifier can be configured to accommodate any of eight nominal line voltages between 100 and 240 V, 50 or 60 Hz. Please see the SPECIAL Note, below. DX Engineering Receiver Guard Electronic RF Limiters
DX Engineering Receiver Guard RG5000HD Electronic RF Limiters are the best choice of inline devices to protect your receiver antenna inputs. The Receiver Guard is a receive antenna input limiter specifically designed to protect a sensitive receiver front-end against high levels of RF and potential damage. At the heart of each Receiver Guard is a highly effective electronic RF limiter covering 500 kHz to 150 MHz with an insertion loss under 0.15 dB up to 50 MHz and under 0.30 dB up to 150 MHz. The multi-stage design includes a gas discharge tube for maximum pulse energy protection. The DXE-RG5000HD rejects 10 watts of catastrophic receive antenna feedline RF while passing a maximum signal of about 87 dB over S-9, which is only 25 mw, a signal level that is well below the point of front end damage. Receiver Guards are a must for multiple radio contesting stations and they provide low-cost front-end "insurance." Use them in these common high-RF situations: - Receive antennas in very close proximity to transmit antennas - Field-day operations with many transmitters in close range - Multi-transmitter contesting sites - Neighboring Amateur and CB operators - Frequent high-power mobile encounters Extensively tested and proven in real-world stations, the Receiver Guard works for all radios and offers the ultimate performance required by the upper tier of transceivers tested to have the best narrow-spaced third-order dynamic range or published RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range). These are passive electronic limiters, so competitive contesting stations use separate band filters in addition to the Receiver Guard. When there are high levels of RF on your receive antennas, the DX Engineering Receiver Guard generates far less harmonic noise than other limiters on the market, which allows your station to continue to operate safely and competitively. At normal HF signal levels the RG5000HD operates continuously with no effect on the performance of your station while providing the best possible protection for your radio. Here are key Receiver Guard features: * Keeps stray high levels of RF from damaging your receiver input * Ideal for separate 160 and/or 80 meter receive systems with large pulse and RF energy capture area * Uses state of the art components for maximum protection of receivers * Under 6 ns response time * Multi-Stage protection * Very low insertion loss * Uses BNC type connectors to avoid accidental connection to a transmit feedline * Has been developed and tested in world-recognized multi-multi contest station K3LR Specifications - DX Engineering Receiver Guard model DXE-RG-5000HD - Frequency Range: 0.5 through 150 MHz - Insertion Loss: < 0.15 dB up to 50 MHz, < 0.3 dB 50 MHz up to 150 MHz - VSWR: < 1.2:1 - Maximum Output Level at 10 W input: +14 dBm (0.025 W) - Maximum Power Handling: 10 W CCS (Continuous Commercial Service) - Device Impedance: 50 to 75 ohms, unbalanced - Connectors, Input and Output: BNC female Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. DX Engineering UCGC-Z Universal Copper Grounding Clamps
DX Engineering Universal Copper Grounding Clamps, model DXE-UCGC-Z, are custom designed to provide a ground rod mounting solution for various types of lightning protectors commonly used for Amateur Radio. The "Z" design makes it easy to install and remove coaxial cable connectors. This ground rod clamp for surge protector mounting is ideal for permanent installations as well as for temporary installations, such as Field Day. The DXE-UCGC-Z Copper Grounding Clamp Features: - Mounts up to six protectors onto one ground rod - Fits common standard 5/8 in. through 3/4 in. diameter ground rods - Made from 1/16 in. thick Copper Alloy 110 for maximum conductivity -"Z" bends in the copper for easier installation and removal of coax connectors on protectors - Easy to assemble two-piece construction. Each plate is approximately 3-1/4 in. wide x 4-3/16 in. tall - Stainless Steel hardware is included: Four 1/4 in.-20 x 3/4 in. long hex head bolts, eight 1/4 in. flat washers, four 1/4 in.-20 Nyloc hex nuts - Using this copper clamp is faster and easier than building up the joint for an exothermic weld The DXE-UCGC-Z can easily mount up to six lightning protectors. The photo shows two DX Engineering and two PolyPhaser lightning protectors installed on a DXE-UCGC-Z mounted to a 5/8 in. diameter ground rod. Other lightning protection products can also be mounted, such as the DXE-IS-RCT Control Line Protector and Alpha Delta Lightning Protectors. Additionally, a solid copper strap from the station grounding bus bar may also be sandwiched between the copper plates of this clamp and the ground rod (not shown). An anti-seize compound such as JTL-12555 Jet Lube SS-30 Pure Copper Anti-Seize must be used on the threads to prevent galling or seizing of stainless steel hardware. All connections must be generously coated with a conductive joint compound to prevent moisture penetration and enhance conductivity. Properly weatherproofing coaxial cables and lightning protectors is important to ensure the longevity of the connection and maintain optimal performance. Prior to attaching the lightning protectors, install the coaxial cables to the lightning protectors and weather seal the PL-259 connectors using TES-2155 Temflex Rubber Sealing Tape with an overwrap of TES-06132 3M Super 33+ Vinyl Tape or 3M Scotch Super 88 Premium Vinyl Tape (TES-06143). These easily removable connector sealing tapes are now available in kits. The lightning protector bodies are not weatherproof and it is suggested to use a DX Engineering Weatherproofing Kits to permanently cover the body of the protectors. Some users have also suggested covering the entire assembly with a plastic food container or plastic trash bin As with all electronic equipment, take proper safety considerations. For example: Do not install if there is a storm anywhere in your area. Do not adjust or touch the grounding system equipment when there is a storm anywhere in your area. Make sure all power is removed before making any adjustments or working on any ground system or grounding components. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. Complete your coaxial cable grounding installation with DX Engineering UCGC-Z Universal Copper Grounding Clamps.

VA6AM Engineering HF Multiplexers
VA6AM Engineering HF Multiplexers are transmit and receive capable Diplexers and Triplexers that are sophisticated RF filtering splitter/combiners. Always used along with monoband HF Band-Pass Filters, they allow multi-transceiver stations to share a single multi-band antenna, simplifying multi-op antenna systems. Supplied with standard UHF Female/SO-239 connectors, HF transmit multiplexers are great for Field Day, contesting and multi-op DXing. Use them anytime you need to operate multiple rigs on one multi-band antenna! Insertion loss is negligible; typically, less than 0.2dB in band! VA6AM Engineering Diplexers and Triplexers provide good levels of isolation between band ports. The multiplexer's main purpose is to provide 50-ohm SO-239 connections for multiple transceivers and balance the impedances for a single 50-ohm feedline to a multi-band antenna. Alternatively, VA6AM Engineering Diplexers and Triplexers can be used to combine multiple low-SWR resonant antennas into a switchless multiband system for a single transceiver.

Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes
Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes. Mastrant offers these products for a variety of applications, from thin support lines used for wire antennas and beams, to rope guys for supporting small and portable masts and vertical antennas. When you need quality rope to install, replace, or modify your antenna systems, consider Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes, now available from DX Engineering.

DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts
The use of DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts could protect your tower, antennas and station equipment from disastrous lightning damage. DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts are 1/8 in. heavy-duty stainless steel clamps that will long outlast your steel tower. Their optional bolts (choose DXE-LRMM-FAST by combined mast and lightning rod diameters) are also high-quality stainless steel. Together, they are extremely durable clamps to keep your lightning rod in place. Lightning searches out the path of least resistance to ground. If that path is your tower, rotator and rotor bearings, antennas and coax, or the ground and electrical connections to your rigs, then that's where it will go. Providing a better path (one with very little resistance) is the key to keeping lightning outside the shack and limiting damage. When used with proper tower grounding, a heavy rotor-bearing bypass cable and installed coaxial surge protectors, a lightning rod above your antennas may save the day. Don't ignore proper grounding and lightning protection! Make a list of all the items you need to upgrade your station's lightning defense. Make sure a mast mounted lightning rod and DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts are added to your list.
