DX Engineering Control Line Terminal Boards

DX Engineering Control Line Terminal Boards are designed to provide a flexible and simplified approach to control line surge protection. The DXE-CLTB is a small, 3 inch square printed circuit board (PCB) with four ten-wire compression screw terminal blocks that handle from 14 to 26 AWG conductors and up to 10A. The two outer terminal blocks are for input and output of the control wires and the two 45 degree angled ten-wire compression screw terminal blocks are for connecting the required number of individual electronic surge protection components. This provides for the choice of components to install between the control line and ground for shunt protection. Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV), Gas Discharge Tube (GDT), EMP Suppressor TVS Diodes, RF Bypass Capacitors and other wire lead components are easily connected between each control line conductor and ground with the DXE-CLTB. This open-board, no-chassis concept allows easy mounting on a single point grounding panel, to support simplified inspection and exchange of control line electronic surge protection components that should be done on a regular basis. For effective protection wherever electronic devices are used as a shunt to ground, a low impedance ground is crucial. The DXE-CLTB Control Line Terminal Board has four corner ground plane screw holes. DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide the appropriate transition from non-metallic to metallic guying cable at the ground end of tower guying systems. Steel Tail Kits are available for Phillystran HPTG-4000I, -6700I and 11200I Guy Lines. What is the function of the steel tail? Here is the recommendation by Phillystran, the manufacturer of HPTG-I High Performance Tower Guy non-metallic guy lines: A steel tail is a length of EHS (Extra High Strength) steel guy line connecting the HPTG-I assemblies to the turnbuckle or guy anchor. The steel tail protects the HPTG-I assemblies from damage due to brush fires, lawn maintenance equipment or vandals. The steel tail length should be sufficient to get the bottom end of the HPTG-I assembly above arm's reach, or above brush tops (if located in a marsh or tall brush area). The HPTG-I should never pass through tree limbs or be allowed to rub against poles or trees. The steel tail allows for easier guy length calculations and serves as a guy tension monitoring point, as well as a safer area to attach guy grips during guy line installation and tensioning. Eliminating the hassle of buying a length of steel cable and obtaining a special tool to cut it, DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide everything needed to isolate your tower's non-metallic guy cable from harm. Three different size kits are available for different tower guying requirements provided by Phillystran guy cables 4000I, 6700I and 11200I. Here are the items included in these innovative Steel Tail kits: - 12 ft. EHS steel guy line, Galvanized, in three kit sizes, 3/16 in., 1/4 in. or 5/16 in. - Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulator, 502 or 504 depending upon kit size - Galvanized Steel Preform Dead End Big-Grips for EHS steel guy line, two per line - Heavy Duty Thimble, galvanized steel, appropriately sized for each kit - Cable Ties, UV protected Black, four, to secure installed Big-Grip ends Note: Phillystran guy line and Preform Dead End Big-Grips for Phillystran are not provided in this kit and must be ordered separately. DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators for the top end of the Steel Tail so that the galvanized steel Big-Grips for the Phillystran and for the EHS Steel Guy Lines do not touching and make RF noise. For three different size Phillystran guy line, HPTG-4000I, -6700I and -11200I, these kits are available exclusively from DX Engineering in 3-packs for each level of tower guying.

DX Engineering 450 Ohm Ladder Line

DX Engineering 450 Ohm Ladder Line is a transmitting grade low-loss parallel-wire RF feedline featuring a strong, waterproof, UV black polyethylene insulation. To maintain the wire spacing between the conductors while reducing losses, the integral flat plastic material alternates with rectangular openings, which explains the "Window Line" nickname. Capable of handling over 3 kW of RF power, DXE-LL450 is a very low-loss transmission line across HF. It is ideal for exceptionally long feedline runs and for low band wire antennas operated on multiple bands on which the feedpoint impedance can vary significantly, causing mismatch and elevated SWR. Unlike coaxial cables, DX Engineering DXE-LL450 Ladder Line maintains low RF losses at frequencies where antenna feedpoint impedance mismatches cause high SWR. It can provide significantly higher efficiency than coaxial cable when feeding non-resonant antenna systems that are matched with a wide impedance range antenna tuner. DXE-LL450 450 Ohm Ladder Line is a high-quality flat RF feedline, about 0.938 in. wide (15/16") with two 16-gauge copper-clad steel wire conductors (29 AWG x 19 strands) that provide the strength to hold up for long spans between supports without twisting. It exhibits a nominal impedance of around 400 Ohms and a nominal Velocity Factor of 91 percent. For proper performance, LL450 Ladder Line must be installed suspended through the air supported by insulators every 25 ft. or less, kept at right angles and several inches away from other wires, and at least one foot away when run parallel to the earth or large metal surfaces. Installing with an axial twist of one turn per 10 ft. can reduce wind, rain and ice loading, RF coupling and RF noise. DXE-LL450 can be mounted with insulators and suspended on metal or wood posts or run along a wood fence line, only if the fence has no wires or metal mesh that couples RF noise or unbalances the feedline. Often used for non-resonant wire doublet antennas, DXE-LL450 can be more easily terminated outdoors to a DXE-MC20-C4-1 4:1 Balun or a DXE-MC20-1-1T 1:1 Balun. Then, with no inline switches or relays, directly connect the antenna system to a typical indoor wide range antenna tuner using a solid dielectric coax, not foam dielectric, to handle high voltage at high SWR. DXE-213U or DXE-214 Coaxial Cable Assemblies 12 or 18 ft. with PL-259s are perfect for this method, which eliminates the need for a special balanced tuner, and avoids the losses and detuning effects caused by unbalancing when ladder line is routed indoors near wires and ducts. DXE-LL450 is sold by the foot, previously sold as DXE-LL450-CTL, this is the same ladder line with a new part number. It is also available in spools of 500 ft. DXE-LL450-5C and 1,000 ft. DXE-LL450-1K, which are specified for DX Engineering Reversible Beverage System Antennas. NOTE: This type of feedline is intended for MF and HF use and is not suitable for use above 54 MHz. Also consider DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line, DXE-LL300, an excellent alternative low-loss HF feed line that reduces impedance extremes on non-resonant HF multiband antenna systems.

DX Engineering Rotator Control Line Protectors

DX Engineering Rotator Control Line Protectors are custom made surge protectors designed for use on rotator cables - up to 8 conductors. We routinely protect power and antenna cables, why ignore rotator control cables? These protectors are also ideal for control lines of remote antenna switches and any low voltage control system where voltages are normally below 60V DC or AC. External terminals allow convenient connection while the surge devices remain securely protected inside the metal enclosure. DXE-IS-RCT features include: * Weatherproof metal enclosure with cover, mounting stud and terminal gaskets to deter water from entering the enclosure. * Terminal strips to connect up to eight rotator control wires * 1/4 in. x 20 mounting stud allowing multiple mounting configurations * Each line connection has an individual shunt MOV for maximum surge protection * Voltage spikes exceeding 82 Vdc (in either polarity) will be shunted to ground * RoHS compliant construction DXE-IS-RCT protectors are recommended to be installed on a tower leg or ground rod using an optional DXE-J-1 or DXE-J-2 Grounding Clamp or a DXE-UCGC Copper Ground Rod Clamp. The location you choose for your DXE-IS-RCT should provide a good, low-impedance ground connection. The surface to which a grounding clamp is connected should be thoroughly cleaned to a bright-colored surface and then treated with a conductive anti-oxidant coating. This procedure will minimize weather-related complications and improve conductivity for your DXE-IS-RCT. DXE-CCK Copper Cleaning Kits provide cleaning pads and copper paste which is ideal for this application. If a tower or mast is being used and is properly grounded, your DXE-IS-RCT may be connected to the base of that structure just above the grounding point. For best results, follow the installation instructions carefully. As with all electronic equipment, observe proper safety considerations. For example: Do not install your DXE-IS-RCT if there is a storm anywhere in your area. Do not adjust or touch the grounding system equipment when there is a storm anywhere in your area. Make sure all power is removed before making any adjustments or working on any ground system or grounding components. DXE-IS-RCT Specs: Surge Energy: 6500 A or 38 J (Max energy 8/20) Response Time: 10 ns typical, 25 ns max. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. For the best protection of your rotator systems, order and install your DX Engineering Rotator Control Line Protectors and keep the voltage surges off of your control lines.

DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line

DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line is a transmitting grade low-loss parallel-wire RF feedline featuring a strong, waterproof, UV black polyethylene insulation. To maintain the wire spacing between the conductors while reducing losses, the integral flat plastic material alternates with rectangular openings, which explains the "Window Line" nickname. Capable of handling over 2.5 kW of RF power, DXE-LL300 is a very low-loss transmission line across HF that is ideal for long feedline runs. It is an excellent feedline choice for a low band non-resonant wire antenna operated on multiple bands on which the impedance varies significantly, causing mismatches and elevated SWR. Unlike coaxial cables, DX Engineering DXE-LL300 Ladder Line maintains low RF losses at frequencies where impedance mismatches cause high SWR. The lower impedance of DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line is actually better suited than 450 ohm ladder line for limiting the impedance extremes of non-resonant multiband antennas. It can provide significantly higher efficiency than coaxial cable for feeding non-resonant antenna systems that are matched with a wide impedance range antenna tuner. DXE-LL300 Ladder Line is a flat, high-quality RF feedline, about 0.438 in. wide with two 18-gauge copper-clad steel wire conductors that provide the strength to hold up for long spans between supports without twisting. It exhibits a nominal impedance of 275 Ohms and a nominal Velocity Factor of 88 percent.
