DX Engineering Acquires TW Antennas

Ham Radio HF enthusiasts, particularly ones that enjoy portable operation, are often hampered by the sheer size of an HF antenna. TW Antennas solved this issue by creating its famed TransWorld Antenna. It’s small and portable, yet offers exceptional performance and is durable enough for permanent installation.

DX Engineering has just purchased TW Antennas to ensure the TransWorld Antenna will continue to be available to the Ham community. The antenna and its related components will remain virtually unchanged from the original design specs—they will now simply bear the DX Engineering name. That means the antenna will also be backed by DX Engineering’s world-class manufacturing and customer support.

The DX Engineering TransWorld Antenna is essentially a single structure. It works with interchangeable Array Box Center Sections that Ham Operators can purchase separately for the bands they choose to operate on.

The Basic Antenna Structure consists of a pair of folding arms that secure to both sides of an array box (sold separately). The structure is made from lightweight aluminum for portability and corrosion resistance. It’s available in natural aluminum or, for stealth operation, an inconspicuous black powdercoat finish.

The band-specific Array Box Center Sections are available for monoband operation on the 80, 40 or 30 meter bands.

For temporary/portable mounting, DX Engineering will make the TransWorld Antenna Quadrastand. It has four extending booms that create a sturdy, stable antenna stand. The Quadrastand folds compactly for moving and storage. There is also a Permanent Mounting Assembly made from aluminum tubing. The assembly features thumb screws, which allows for the Antenna Structure to be removed/installed quickly.

A TransWorld Antenna Extension Cable and Travel Bag will be available separately.

DX Engineering is tooling up to begin production of the TransWorld Antenna and related products, expect to see the full line available by mid-summer 2016.
