DX Engineering Prepares to Debut Innovative Amateur Radio Products at 2018 Dayton Hamvention®
Visit the Amateur Radio team from DX Engineering at the 2018 Dayton Hamvention® May 18-20 and see firsthand its lineup of new products. DX Engineering will once again be in Building 1, Booths #1207-1210 and 1307-1311 at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Xenia, Ohio. Here’s a preview of some of the latest DX Engineering gear that will be on display:
Clifton Laboratories Products by DX Engineering
With the acquisition of Clifton Laboratories in 2016, DX Engineering is offering updated versions of a few select devices that were created by the talented engineer, Jack Smith, K8ZOA (SK).
Buffer Amplifier Kits
Add a spectrum/waterfall display to an older receiver or transceiver. Two Clifton Labs Buffer Amplifier Kits are offered: a universal model covering 50 kHz to 100 MHz and K2 version tuned to the 4.915 MHz IF signal of the Elecraft K2 transceiver.
Preamplifier Plug-in Module
DX Engineering has adapted the Clifton Laboratories Z10046A High-Output Preamplifier (23dB gain). Virtually identical to its predecessor, this super-versatile preamp can plug directly into the DXE-NCC-2 and DXE-RTR-2 units.
Dual Module Chassis
The multi-purpose DXE-DMC-2 receive device box serves as the connector and power interface box for two DX Engineering plug-in modules and receive filters. It’s perfect for protecting a receiver with a filter and a limiter, adding a preamplifier that has filtering or limiter protection, and many other combinations.
Tower Accessory Shelves
Ever try to fit a one-piece rotor plate into the midpoint of a tower? Designed to fit Rohn and Amerite towers, DX Engineering’s new Tower Accessory Shelves are simpler to install and feature a thicker, stainless steel plate for greater stability when mounting rotators and thrust bearings to 25, 45 and 55 Series towers.
Mastlock Mast Anti-Rotation Assembly
The Mastlock enables users to lock the mast in position and remove the rotor without having the mast slip downward. It’s also perfect for keeping the antenna in place when performing maintenance. The Mastlock is compatible with Rohn and Amerite 25, 45 and 55 Series towers.
2-Port Splitter-Combiners for Receivers
Before you use a standard parallel connection to combine antenna systems, check out the advantages of DX Engineering’s new 2-Port Splitter-Combiners. Available for 50- or 75-ohm systems, these units can be used to split one RF signal to feed two receivers or the receiver inputs of one transceiver and a separate receiver.
Bandpass, High Pass and Low Pass Filters for the NCC-2
These advanced plug-in modules and adapter boards offer frequency-specific receive enhancements. Packages are available in pairs of high pass, band pass and low pass frequency ranges with filter cut-off and center frequencies that correspond to the 160, 80 and 40 meter bands.
Advanced Design Thrust Bearings, Now Available for 3 Inch O.D. Masts
The Advanced Design Thrust Bearing improves on the standard design in two key areas. First, the ball bearings ride on an all-metal surface, not a seam like other thrust bearings, to promote a longer service life. Secondly, they can handle much greater static loads than other models. The thrust bearings fit most common tower sizes from Rohn and American Tower. Available for 2 inch and 3 inch masts.
RG400 Cables
Dramatically improve station performance with DX Engineering RG400 Double-Shielded Coaxial Cable Assemblies. They feature high isolation from noise and signals from adjacent cables; high power handling, 8 kW at 30 MHz; stranded silver-covered copper center conductor for extreme efficiency; and more.
TransWorld Antenna Center Box Covers
These economical and attractive covers protect your TransWorld Antenna center section coil box. Sized to fit TW2010, TW2010L, TW3030, and TW4040 models, the covers feature a rear flap that shields the coaxial and control cable connectors and keeps rain out.
60 Meter Mono-Band Conversion Kit
This kit enables the DXE-MBVE-5A Multi-Band Vertical Antenna to be modified into a 60 meter mono-band. When properly tuned, the SWR should be under 1.5:1 across the entire 60 meter band.
Transceiver to Amplifier Interface Cables
DX Engineering now manufactures cables that specifically enable Acom 2000A, 1200S and 600S amplifiers to work with the Elecraft K3 and K3S, as well as with most modern transceivers.
Dual Vertical Array Mono-Band Phasing Systems for 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 Meters
DX Engineering DVA Phasing Relay Units are the band specific parts of the Dual Vertical Array Systems. They’re available for each HF band, with 160, 80 and 40 meters in stock; 60, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 meter systems are now available by special order.
DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits
These kits provide a solid transition from non-metallic to metallic guying cable at the ground end of your tower guying system. The steel section of guy line—the “tail”—connects the fiber HPTG-I Phillystran assemblies to the turnbuckle or guy anchor. The kit includes steel guy line, porcelain guy line strain insulator, steel preform Dead End Big-Grips, and steel thimble.
Dual Transceiver Audio Monitoring for Contesters
DX Engineering’s RXSHARE unit enables two contest operators to monitor audio from two transceivers in a typical “run/s&p” setup. Either operator can monitor audio from his or her station only, listen to one station in the left ear and the other in the right ear, or listen to the other station only.
Nylon Patch Safety Bolts for Ham4 and Hy-Gain Tailtwister Rotors
While standard bolts in a rotator assembly can dislodge due to vibration, these stainless steel replacement bolts feature a section of nylon threads that firmly lock the bolts in place and keep your rotator secure.
Color-Coded Ferrite Noise Reduction Kits
DX Engineering offers a wide range of ferrite toroid, bead and snap-on bead kits that enable you to prevent RF from riding down your feedlines and other cables/connections. DX Engineering exclusively color-codes our ferrite products making it simple to choose the right part for the desired frequency range.
Enclosure Kit for SOTAbeams 3-Band Low Pass Filters
Sturdy and easy to assemble, the enclosure kit is custom made to securely house SOTAbeams’ SBM-LOWPASSKIT and SBM-PCB3BLPF kits.
NVIS 80/40M Antenna Kits
DXE Engineering’s NVIS Antenna Kits include a turnstile dipole antenna capable of handling 1,500 watts, a four-section telescopic fiberglass mast, antenna stakes, COMTEK balun, and balun mounting kit. The antenna’s 14 AWG stranded wires measure 133 ft. and 66 ft. A new shortened version (66 ft. x 66 ft.) is now also available.
Coming Soon…Add 160 Meter Coverage to a DX Engineering 75/80 Monoband Vertical
DX Engineering will be demonstrating a beta version of its new conversion kit that enables users to add 160 meter coverage to a DX Engineering 7580FS Series 75/80 meter full size or quarter-wave antenna. Mounted to the antenna’s base, the device is designed to let operators remotely switch between 80 meters and three segments of 160 meters.
