Add More Amps with a Summit Racing™ Alternator Wiring Upgrade Kit for Fox-Body Mustang

Ford equipped the 1986-93 Mustang GT with the 2G alternator, Ford’s first alternator with an integrated voltage regulator. Rated at 75 amps maximum, the 2G was adequate for a stone-stock car. But add an electric fan, electric fuel pump, or a real audio system and the 2G will fall flat on its face.

The solution is the Ford 3G alternator. Introduced on the 1994 Mustang, the 3G cranks out 130 amps—and all you need to swap one in your Fox-body is the Summit Racing™ Alternator Wiring Upgrade Kit. It comes with four feet of 4-gauge copper wire with pre-terminated ends for the alternator, dash light, and starter solenoid, and is protected by a convoluted tubing cover. This instruction sheet shows how easy the kit is to install.
