Add More Spark to Practically Any Engine with an ACCEL Super Coil
Back in the day, all the hot performance cars sported a big yellow ACCEL Super Coil under the hood. And for good reason—a Super Coil produced more spark energy, with a fast rise time and a longer spark duration to help produce a hotter burn of the air/fuel mixture in the combustion chambers. A hotter burn meant more power.
That still holds true today. Super Coils still produce a hot spark to help improve combustion and horsepower, and ACCEL makes versions for a wide variety of classic American V8s and modern performance engines too.
Classic Super Coil
This is the one that started it all. The oil-filled canister-style Super Coil provides 45,000 volts of spark energy. ACCEL includes a ballast resistor for use with points-style distributors.
GM HEI In-Cap Super Coils
Compatible with both original and computer-controlled HEI ignition systems, the ACCEL HEI Super Coils produce 45,000 volts of spark energy and are designed to resist shock and vibration. They have a finned cover that aids cooling, and hardware is included.
The Brute Thunder HEI Super Coils are ACCEL's highest output HEI in-cap coils. Rated at 48,000 volts output, they offer more energy at high rpm, with no loss at idle. The Brute Thunder HEI Super Coils are compatible with both original and computer-controlled HEI ignitions.
EFI Super Coils
ACCEL makes Super Coils and coil packs for many modern EFI engines including:
• 1986-2009 GM 4-, 6-, and 8-cylinder engines with DIS ignitions
• 1998-2015 GM LS
• Ford 4.6L/5.4L V8 2-, 3-, and 4-valve, 5.0L Coyote
• 1989-2000 Ford V6 with EDIS ignition
• Chrysler 5.7L/6.1L Modern Hemi
• 1990-2002 Honda/Acura 4-cylinder
Summit Racing also carries ACCEL remote-mount Super Coils, an E-Core Super Coil for use with CD-type electronic ignitions, and Super Coils for motorcycles.
