Aeromotive Apex Jet Siphon: High Horsepower Fuel Delivery, Guaranteed
Fuel tanks are great for storing large quantities of gasoline, but as the gasoline is used up, fuel starvation can rear its ugly head. That’s because the gas remaining at the bottom of the tank cannot be siphoned by the vehicle’s fuel pump—it’s sloshed over in the tank and out of reach. When this happens, the amount of gas supplied to the engine can either be significantly decreased or cut off, making the engine spit, sputter, or simply die altogether.
Now, just imagine how much worse the problem becomes when you mix in some high-speed side-to-side maneuvering like in autocross and road racing, high g-load jumps and whoops encountered in an off-road race truck, or on a steep climb or descent in your rock crawler. You get the idea.
If your fuel tank or cell has an Aeromotive Phantom 340 or 450 fuel pump in it (and let’s face it—if you’re serious about high performance it should), your salvation is the Aeromotive Apex Jet Siphon. With the Apex Jet Siphon, you can place the fuel pickup hose at the deepest part of the tank, ensuring you always have a constant, uninterrupted flow of gas to the fuel pump bladder. A strong set of neodymium magnets hold the siphon hose in place. A magnet on the end of the hose holds it in place on any steel tank. If your tank is made of plastic, aluminum, polyethylene, or some other material, a second magnet can be placed on the exterior of the tank to make sure the hose stays put. Speaking of the hose, Aeromotive includes four feet of its gasoline/ethanol rated hose line to fit tanks of all shapes and sizes.
Complementing the Apex Jet Siphon system Aeromotive’s Fuel Pump Bladder Baffle. Installed in the inlet passages at the base of the Phantom fuel pump’s bladder, the baffles incorporate a PTFE check ball to keep gas in the bladder, preventing it from escaping during hard acceleration, cornering, or off-angle vehicle maneuvers. That means the fuel pump can feed the engine the necessary amount of gas it needs to keep it running in any situation.
