Bolt Better Handling on Your GM Vehicle with a QA1 Coilover Conversion System
If you have a GM muscle car or pickup, chances are good QA1 has a Pro Coil, MOD Series, or Proma Star Coilover Conversion Kit for it. The bolt-on kits replace your factory shocks with a ride height-adjustable coilover system to improve handling and ride quality. You can choose single-adjustable (compression) or double-adjustable (compression and rebound) shocks and coil spring ratings to dial-in handling to a T.
QA1 says coil spring rates are determined based on vehicle weight, including the weight of modifications like bigger wheels and tires. For example, you can go one step softer than the recommended street spring rate for a better launch at the drag strip, or go one step firmer for sharper handling on the autocross course. Check out QA1's ‘Calculating Spring Rate for Stock Mount Coil-Over Systems’ to learn how to calculate the ideal spring rate for your vehicle.
Pro Coil and Rear Pro Coil Systems
Pro Coil Systems feature single- or double-adjustable shocks with a fully threaded body that allows you to adjust your ride height or fine-tune weight balance for superior handling. The American-made coil springs have fewer coils and a smaller wire diameter. That allows higher travel due to the larger distance between the coils. They also reduce unsprung weight and react faster for optimum suspension performance.
Combine a Pro Coil System with a Rear Pro Coil System to get a complete, fully adjustable suspension. The Rear Pro Coil kits come with the necessary mounting brackets and hardware. Kits are available for vehicles with coil-spring suspensions like 1964-73 A-Body, 1965-96 full-size passenger car, 1978-88 A/G-Body, and 1982-2002 Camaro/Firebird.
Proma Star Double Adjustable Coilover Systems for C5/C6 Corvette
QA1 Proma Star Double Adjustable Coilover Systems are ideal for Corvette owners that do mostly street driving but make some occasional visits to a track day. Kits with ‘medium-rate’ coil springs are recommended for street-only use. Kits with ‘firm-rate’ springs are geared toward track-oriented cars, further reducing body roll under hard cornering and providing a more planted feel.
The Proma Star systems feature unique upper and lower mounts that allow them to bolt into the factory mounting locations with basic hand tools. QA1 even eliminated the need for a toe link relocation kit with the rear coilover kits.
MOD Series Pro Coilover and MOD Rear Coilover Systems
The MOD Series Coilover Systems feature QA1’s MOD shocks that allow you to completely re-valve each shock quickly and without having to remove them from the car. The key to this awesomeness is QA1’s QuickTune Technology which uses dry modular valve packs that are designed to be easily swapped out. That means no mess, no contamination, no air intrusion, and no downtime waiting on someone else to re-valve your shocks.
The shocks’ unique double-adjustable design allows for fully independent control over the compression and rebound characteristics for an unprecedented level of tunability. They also have nitrogen-charged canisters that can be mounted on the shock bodies or in a remote location to ease installation in tight areas.
MOD Series Pro Coilover and MOD Rear Coilover Systems come with medium-rate compression and rebound valve packs. Soft- and firm-rate compression and rebound valve packs are available for shock tuning.
