Boost Power for Hauling or Towing with a K&N Cold Air Intake
If you have a pickup or SUV made in the last 30 years or so, chances are good K&N has a cold air intake for it. K&N created the original reusable cotton gauze filter element that provides excellent filtration without blocking horsepower-building airflow, and there’s one on virtually every K&N air intake. You choose the one that best fits your truck and your driving style.
57 Series FIPK
The 57 Series intakes feature a high-flow composite air tube that reduces turbulence and increases airflow velocity into the engine. Some FIPK systems replace the entire factory intake system while others reuse the factory air box or have a filter that bolts directly to the engine’s throttle body. Most 57 Series FIPK cold air intakes are 50-state emissions-legal, too.
63 Series Aircharger
The 63 Series Aircharger cold air intakes are short-ram style systems with a large conical filter element that outflows the factory element. Aircharger intakes have a high-flow composite air tube and a steel heat shield, and most use the OEM air intake mounting points for an easy installation with no drilling. 63 Series Aircharger intakes are not emissions-legal in California.
77 Series
The 77 Series were the first K&N cold air intakes designed just for trucks and SUVs. They feature mandrel bent aluminum tubing to promote better airflow and have a heat shield or an air box to ensure the system pulls in the coldest ambient air possible. Most 77 Series kits come with a polished tube, but some are available with a silver or black powdercoat finish depending on the application. Many are also 50-state emissions-legal.
Blackhawk Series
The Blackhawk cold air intakes have a welded aluminum air tube that has had the rough edges and burrs removed by hand, a welded-on metal plate with an engraved K&N logo, and a durable black powdercoat finish. The Blackhawk intakes also have a reusable Dryflow synthetic filter element that does not need oiling and is easier to clean than an oiled filter element. Most are 50-state emissions-legal.
