Bring Your Mopar’s Handling into the 21st Century with QA1 Coilover Conversion Systems
Your classic Mope’s suspension was one of the better ones made back in the day. Today, not so much—but you can fix that issue with QA1’s Coilover Conversion Systems. They replace the factory torsion bar front and leaf spring rear suspension with adjustable coilover shocks that dramatically improve suspension geometry for better handling and cornering. The systems also reduce performance-robbing weight compared to the bulky stock components.
Front Coilover Conversion Systems
QA1’s Front Coilover Conversion Systems are based on a tubular steel K-member that is lighter than the factory part, accommodates engine swaps including Gen 3 Hemi, and offers better exhaust system clearance. You also get tubular control arms; Mustang II-style spindles that accept multiple disc brake options; adjustable coilover shocks with springs; a power rack and pinion steering unit; ball joints; and tie rod ends.
The Street Performance systems come with single-adjustable shocks that provide 0-2 inches or 2-4 inches of drop depending on the kit. They’re available for A-, B-, and E-Body cars. The Drag systems come with double-adjustable shocks that also provide 0-2 inches or 2-4 inches of drop. They’re available for B- and E-Body Mopars only. QA1 says 18 inch diameter wheels are required for kits that have a 2-4 inch drop. Engine mounts are available separately.
Rear Coilover Conversion Systems
QA1 Rear Coilover Conversion Systems replace your car’s leaf spring with a triangulated four-link setup. That gives you these performance benefits:
• Improved traction during launch at the drag strip
• Improved anti-squat for better weight transfer and more traction in the corners
• Adjustable lower trailing arms allow you to set the wheelbase to fit larger wheels and tires
• Lower trailing arm front mounts are adjustable to set the car’s instant center
• Adjustable upper trailing arms let you set proper pinion angle—important if you’ve lowered the car
• Supports standard and inboard spring locations
• Additional clearance for 3 inch diameter over-the-axle exhaust systems
The QA1 Rear Coilover Conversion Systems are available with single- or double-adjustable shocks. You can get a kit that accepts a Chrysler 8.75 or Ford 9 inch rear axle or a Dana 60 rear axle. An optional sway bar is also available to reduce body roll during hard cornering or launches.
