Bring Your Vehicle to Life with Banks Power PedalMonster Throttle Enhancers
If you were told there was a lag between when you press the throttle pedal in your car or truck and how hard and fast the vehicle accelerates, would you believe it? It’s true. The car manufacturers’ term for this acceleration pause is “throttle enrichment delay,” and it’s their way of making you drive slower and use less fuel. But performance enthusiasts have a better and more accurate name for it: “sponge pedal.”
The brainiacs at Banks Performance are all too familiar with sponge pedal, and they put their extensive performance experience to work and designed a way to eliminate it. The
PedalMonster is the first OBD-II connected throttle sensitivity controller for gas- and diesel-powered vehicles. In basic terms, it intercepts and matches the pedal position signal with the throttle input signal before it reaches the vehicle’s engine control module (ECM), telling the ECM to deliver 100% of the power available in relation to how far the pedal is being pushed. For example, if you push the throttle pedal 1/4 of the way, the engine delivers as much power as it makes at that input. If you mash the pedal all of the way to the floor, you are going to get every one of the ponies that the engine makes instantaneously.
PedalMonster is fully customizable with settings for city, sport, and track (each with 10 levels of refinement) to make your throttle more or less responsive in a given situation. For instance, if you’re driving around town and find yourself accelerating too quickly, you can choose the “city” setting and PedalMonster will focus the power in a higher RPM range.
Another huge bonus is that, unlike other types of electronic performance enhancers, PedalMonster does not alter the ECM in any way, making it completely vehicle warranty- friendly. And if you happen to take your vehicle in for service to a dealer that turns up their nose at aftermarket add-ons, PedalMonster can be easily removed—leaving no trace or ECM footprint that it was ever installed—and then just as quickly reinstalled when you get your vehicle back.
PedalMonster has many other advantages too, like:
- ActiveSafety failsafe circuitry that prevents your vehicle from going into limp mode in the event of a failure
- Reverse safety that returns the throttle pedal to stock sensitivity in reverse gear
- Adjustable low speed trim controls how fast sensitivity is added at 10 MPH or less
- Customizable gauge display
- Reads boost pressure, exhaust gas temperatures, and more
- Displays 2-8 values of your choice
- Built-in shift and RPM lights
- Auto-dimming feature
- Fits in standard 52mm (2 1/16 inch) gauge mounts, cups, or pods
