Build a Better Handler with Scott’s Hotrods Suspension Packages

Scott’s Hotrods has built some killer show vehicles. It won the GM Design Award at SEMA 2008 for the trend-setting Quick Trip 1955 Chevy 210, It also won two America’s Most Beautiful Roadster awards at the Grand National Roadster Show with its Undisputed 1932 Ford roadster (2008) and the Possessed 1933 Ford roadster (2010).

You can get some of that quality for your project with Scott’s Hotrods Suspension Packages. They are designed, fabricated, and TIG-welded in its 20,000-square-foot Knoxville, Tennessee shop. Components like cross tubes, steering and shock bungs, A-arm rod ends and tubes, and other parts are CNC-milled or lathed, and all tabs are cut on an HD plasma table. Nobody makes a better suspension.

IFS Packages
A front suspension must have the correct geometry with pivot points in their proper locations to function properly. Change one of those pivot points and you throw off that geometry. The result is sloppy handling and poor ride quality.

Scott’s Hotrods designs its IFS packages specifically for each application. It takes things like engine type, track width, and ride height into account when determining A-arm lengths and crossmember pivot points. What you get is a front suspension that will make your vehicle handle and ride like it should have when it left the factory.  Standard features include:

• One-piece, 2"x 4" box tubing crossmember
• Frame boxing plates
• 1 1/8" DOM tubing upper and lower A-arms
• Stainless steel, fully adjustable upper A-arm rod ends
• Oversized, serviceable press-in ball joints
• Aldan American single-adjustable coilovers or Slam Specialties SS-6 airbags with Ridetech HQ Series single-adjustable shocks
• 11" rotors w/single piston GM calipers
• Manual rack and pinion steering
• Choice of stock-height, 2" drop, or 4" drop forged steel spindles

You can get a Scott’s Hotrods IFS Package with these options:
• Power rack and pinion steering
• Wilwood disc brake kit
• Aldan double-adjustable coilovers, RideTech double-adjustable coilovers, or RideTech triple-adjustable coilovers
• Torsion-spline solid sway bar

Summit Racing carries weld-on IFS kits for 1935 and later Ford and 1937 and later Chevy vehicles, plus bolt-on rear-steer kits for 1948-87 Chevy/GMC trucks. Your friendly Summit Racing rep can help you choose the right kit for your ride.

Parallel Four-Bar Rear Suspension Packages
Scott’s Hotrods parallel four-bar suspension is designed to work with its IFS systems. They feature equal-length bars plus a Panhard bar to control the lateral movement of the rear suspension.  Unlike a triangulated four-link, the pinion angle with a four-bar does not change as the suspension travels up and down. That means much better cornering, even on uneven pavement. Features include:

• Double adjustable, 1 1/8" DOM tube link bars
• CNC-machined stainless steel rod ends
• Double adjustable, 1 1/8" DOM tube Panhard bar
• FK Bearing Heim joints
• Choice of Aldan American single-adjustable coilovers or Slam Specialties TS-6 air springs with Ridetech HQ single-adjustable shocks
• Upper shock crossmember lets you determine final ride height when installing
• Rear axle housing and front frame brackets

You can get a Scott’s Hotrods Four-Bar Rear Suspension Package with a Watts link instead of a Panhard bar. A Watts link provides consistent handling by allowing the rear end to travel vertically with no lateral movement. You can also get a kit with a solid, torsion-splined sway bar.

Summit Racing also carries Scott’s Hotrods billet line clamps and master cylinder reservoirs; pedal assemblies; motor mounts; factory steering column-to-rack kits; and other accessories.
