Ring and Pinion Gear Sets
Nitro Gear & Axle gear sets start as heat-treated 8620 steel forgings that are CNC-machined and triple-lapped for an exact fit, excellent contact pattern, and quiet operation. Nitro Gear even goes through the trouble of installing and setting up each new gear set it develops to make sure they fit properly and are easy to install.

Nitro Gear & Axle Ring and Pinion Gear Sets are available in a wide range of ratios for GM, Ford, Dana, Dodge/Ram, Jeep, Nissan, and Toyota axles. We also carry Pro Series gear sets made from 9310 steel for maximum strength, quiet operation be damned. Pro Series gears are available for Ford 10 inch axles in ratios from 4:11 to 5.00:1.

Gear Packages
Your 4x4 left the factory with gear ratios tailored to the vehicle’s specified weight and tire size. Add bigger (and heavier) wheels and tires, a lift kit, or accessories like winches and off-road bumpers and you’ll notice your transmission shifting constantly as it tries to keep the engine in its powerband. That reduces performance and fuel economy, and also accelerates driveline wear.

An upgrade to the proper gear ratio will fix that, and Nitro Gear & Axle’s Gear Packages give you everything you need to do the job. They include matched ring and pinion gear sets for the front and rear axles, plus installation kits with all the necessary bearings, seals, and gaskets. The Gear Packages are available for popular GM, Ford, Dodge/Ram, Jeep, and Toyota vehicles.

Direct-Fit Axle Shafts
Nitro Gear makes two types of axle shafts. The OEM replacement axles are made from 1541H steel and are 25% to 35% stronger than stock axles. The 4340 chromoly steel axles are beefier and have extra material added to failure-prone areas. Both types of axles are CNC-machined to factory specifications for excellent fitment, and are heat-treated after the splines are cut to further strengthen the metal. They are available for many GM, Ford, Dodge/Ram, Jeep, and Toyota vehicles.
