Cal-Van Specialty Tools Now Available at Summit Racing
Our dads always told us, “Use the right tool for the job and you’ll never go wrong.” Sometimes that right tool isn’t in your tool box—but you can head over to SummitRacing.com and look over our selection of Cal-Van Specialty tools.
Cal-Van has been making tools for professional mechanics and do-it-yourselfers for years, so chances are really good we have the specialty tool you need. Here are a few of the Cal-Van tools you’d have a hard time finding anywhere else.
Master Inline Flaring Set
This line flaring set will save you time and effort in three ways. The tool’s slim, low profile design allows you to make single, double, and bubble flares on lines located under the vehicle or in the engine compartment. The tool locks the flaring adapter’s cone and the tubing perfectly in-line. That means you can make accurate factory flares every time with less risk of breaking an adapter. And with the clamp and set screws putting pressure directly over the tubing, there is far less chance of the tubing slipping from the clamp.
The Cal-Van flaring set can make these flares:
• 3/16, 5/16, and 3/8 inch single and double flares
• 4.75, 6, and 8mm double and bubble flares
Spark Plug Thread Insert Repair Kits for Ford Triton
Ford’s Triton V8 and V10 engines are notorious for spark plug issues. The plugs in the 2-Valve engines are held in the cylinder head by as few as three to four threads; the plugs in 3-Valve or DOHC engines just break off when you try to remove them.
Cal-Van makes two tools to solve these problems. Both kits feature oversized steel inserts that are not affected by engine heat that can damage other repair inserts. The kit for 1996-2003 2-Valve motors comes with drill and tap bits, eight inserts, and an air hose attachment to suck up any chips left in the cylinder bores. The kit for 2004-08 3-Valve/DOHC engines comes with drill and tap bits plus sockets for removing the broken spark plug(s).
Noid Light Set
This tool makes it simple to check fuel injectors in EFI systems to see if they are getting an electrical signal. Just plug in the correct Noid light and start the engine. If the light flashes, then there is current flowing to the injector solenoid. The set includes Noid lights for GM PFI; Bosch PFI; Ford TBI; Geo TBI; GM SCPI; and GM TBI systems, plus an injector harness extension so you can check injectors from the driver’s seat.
Antenna and Radio Socket Set
True story—one of our employees didn’t correctly tighten the antenna mast nut on his ’65 Mustang. When he came out of a car wash, the nut and bezel were gone and the antenna was flapping around in the fender hole. Don’t let that happen to you—get this kit. It comes with a universal wrench; sockets that fit most domestic and import antenna nuts; deep well sockets to remove the radio nuts on GM, Chrysler, and many aftermarket radios; and a removal tool for Ford radios.
Summit Racing carries plenty more Cal-Van tools including wheel hub resurfacing kits, pilot bearing pullers, oxygen sensor and oil filter wrenches, and trim fastener removal tools.
