Count on RAM Clutches to Keep Your Challenger in Gear

Trust us when we say that you’re going to sit up and take notice of the easier pedal modulation, improved holding power, and longer life that RAM clutch components will give your Hemi-powered Challenger. From the budget-friendly Concept 10.5 Clutch Kits that work with the factory flywheel to the top-of-the-line Pro Street Dual Disc kits, Summit Racing carries several RAM performance clutch components for your Challenger, including:

Concept 10.5 Dual-Disc Clutch Sets
RAM Concept 10.5 Dual-Disc Clutch Kits deliver all the performance benefits dual-disc setups are famous for, and work with nearly all OEM-type flat flywheels to save you the cost of buying a special flywheel. The list of features for the Concept 10.5 Dual-Disc Sets are nearly as long as your clutch leg:

  • 10.5-inch pressure plate with 2,400 pounds of clamp pressure
  • Sprung hub top disc eases driveline stress during initial engagement
  • Precision-machined billet stands provide a stable mounting platform and properly center the clutch on the flywheel for better balancing and less vibration
  • Strap driven floater plate system assures quiet, no-rattle operation
  • Floater plate/stand segment assemblies are preassembled with appropriate floater plate gaps, so the clutch always disengages properly
  • Fits most OEM-type flat steel and aluminum flywheels
  • Your choice of 300 Series organic material discs for street vehicles making up to 750 horsepower or 900 Series metallic discs for extreme duty/competition vehicles making up to 950 horsepower

Force 10.5 Dual-Disc Clutch Kits
Next up the performance clutch ladder: RAM Force 10.5 Dual-Disc Clutch Kits. Optimized for cars making between 600 and 1,200 horsepower. They feature a modular dual-disc design for increased performance and your choice of an SFI-certified billet steel or billet aluminum flywheel to ensure proper balancing and vibration-free operation. A three-strap driven floater plate uses high clamp load pressure to generate the holding power required for high-powered vehicles without creating excessive pedal pressure. RAM even eliminated the floater ‘rattle’ common on stand driven clutch systems.

Once again, RAM lets you choose the type of clutch disc material—300 Series organic for cars making between 500 to 800 horsepower or 900 Series for cars making 600 to 1,200 horsepower.

Pro Street Dual-Disc Clutch Kits
RAM set out to make the Pro Street Dual-Disc Clutch Kits the best all-around clutch system available. For starters, the Pro Street Kits are one of the easiest clutches to modulate. They deliver smooth, chatter-free engagement and takeoff, unlike competitors’ systems that feel like an on/off switch as you release the clutch pedal.

At the core of the design is the billet aluminum pressure plate. RAM sets the static pressure, release length, and lever position in-house to deliver maximum holding power with the best possible drivability, and the special high-cone diaphragm enables easy high-RPM shifting. Another really cool feature is that RAM lets you choose the flywheel and clutch material. Flywheel choices include an SFI-certified billet steel or a billet aluminum model with a steel insert that draws heat away from the clutch to prevent distortion. For the clutch discs, you can pick either the 300 Series organic material or 900 Series metallic for extreme duty/competition vehicles.

Hydraulic Release Bearing Kit
Looking for an adjustable substitute for the failure-prone stock hydraulic release bearing assembly? Then you want a RAM Hydraulic Release Bearing Kit. The full-floating design lets you set the bearing height to your needs and clutch type; switching from a single- to a dual-disc clutch system, for instance. The bearing features larger-than-stock O-rings and PTFE backup rings in the grooves to eliminate leakage and improve service life. A snap ring on the front of the piston prevents over-travel and keeps the bearing from pushing off the sleeve.

Pedal Height Adjusters
Another issue plaguing Challengers is clutch engagement at the top of the pedal stroke. This condition makes speed shifting just about impossible—adding time to your ETs and making you look like a turkey behind the wheel. RAM’s Pedal Height Adjuster Kits fix that by allowing you to add free play to the pedal so that you can move the engagement point to a position that engages the clutch sooner and is more comfortable for you. Pedal Height Adjuster Kits are available for use with the RAM Release Bearing Kit and the stock release bearing.

Billet Aluminum Flywheel
When replacing a failed clutch in a performance car, it’s highly recommended that you also ditch the OEM flywheel for a suitable high-performance alternative. RAM’s lightweight billet aluminum flywheel will allow your engine to rev faster and the car to accelerate quicker. The flywheel is computer balanced to within 1/2-ounce and surface ground to provide an optimum mating surface so that your clutch doesn’t chatter or squeal on takeoff. A 1/4-inch steel friction insert ensures that heat gets dissipated without causing distortion. The RAM Billet Aluminum Flywheel has an SFI 1.1 rating for high performance use, which is an important consideration if you have sticky tires and perform lots of high RPM shifts.
