D.U.I GM Racing Distributors: Big Spark Through 10,000 RPM, No Boxes Required

The fewer parts and connections in your race car, the less that can go wrong and cost you a win. Take D.U.I.’s GM Racing Distributors as an example. The HEI-style distributors for small and big block Chevy provide big spark through 10,000 RPM, and since the high-voltage coil and high-dwell module are built in, there are no external ignition boxes or extra wiring to deal with.

The Dyna-Module high-dwell module increases the coil saturation time so the 50,000-volt coil produces one long-duration spark rather than several multiple sparks. The longer duration spark improves throttle response and power, and allows you to run spark plug gaps as big as .055 inch. The combination of the larger gap and longer duration spark provides complete combustion of the fuel mixture, which boosts horsepower and torque. The wider gap also helps spark plugs stay cleaner longer, which means fewer plug changes at the track.

The GM Racing Distributors’ centrifugal advance system is precision-tuned on a Sun Distributor Machine for easy starting, better throttle response, and more power through the RPM range. All moving parts are hand-fitted to assure the smoothest advance curve possible. There is no excess advance at high RPM, and you’ll be able to run more timing without detonation than ever before.

Other features include:
• CNC-machined billet aluminum bodies
• “No-resistance” rotor bushing ensures all of the spark energy from the coil is distributed by the rotor
• Nylon rotor screws prevent misfires at high RPM
• Widely spaced distributor cap terminals prevent crossfire
• Distributors pull just 2-3 amps to prevent big voltage drops—a big plus for cars that don’t run an alternator

D.U.I. GM Racing Distributors are available with or without a vacuum advance. You even get your choice of a black, red, blue, yellow, or clear distributor cap.
