Dagger Tools Metal Working Tools Now Available at Summit Racing

If you’re serious about doing metal work—whether it’s a simple dent repair or custom sheetmetal shaping—get a set of quality tools. The cheap stuff may work once or twice, but after that it’s a tale of broken handles and misshapen dolly faces.

That won’t be an issue with the Dagger Tools products we carry. They are well-made metal shaping and fabrication tools that will last for years with proper care. Of course we have a nice assortment of Dagger Tool hammers and mallets that are the basic tools of the trade, but we want to direct your attention to some of the other items that once you use them, you won’t want to be without.

Trim Repair Kit
Old cars usually come with bent, dented body trim and molding. And if your car is some offbeat brand or a rare model, chances are reproduction pieces aren’t available. But get this Dagger Tools Trim Repair Kit and you’ll be able to save a bunch of that old stuff. The kit includes:
• One leather shot bag—sand is recommended for fill material
• Plastic raising and blending mallet
• Chasing/correcting hammer
• 5/8 and 1/2 inch trim repair hammers
• Mini bench anvil
• Three steel chasing chisels—1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 inch wide
• Leather panel beater facing
• How-to reference guide

Leather Shot Bags
Shot bags are used to do the initial shaping (stretching) of metal panels, especially pieces with compound curves. Dagger Tools shot bags are made out of thick, top-grain cowhide to produce a blemish-free metal surface. Each shot bag has a suede outer forming surface and a tanned inner surface to resist abrasive wear from the fill material. All bags have a riser band so you can use the entire surface, and can be filled with sand or lead shot through the reinforced flap with a Velcro® seal. Round bags are available in four, eight, 12, and 18 inch diameters.

Handle Dollies
Handle dollies are used for shaping radii, crowns, and other complex shapes in sheetmetal. You can use them as hand-held shapers or lock them in a vise. Dagger Tools handle dollies are made from ductile iron and have a fully polished forming surface to cleanly form or persuade sheetmetal into the desired shape. Choose from teardrop, loaf, half-football, and shoe shapes.

Slappers

Slappers are shaping tools usually used with leather shot bags to form a flat sheet of metal into various curves and shapes. They are better than a mallet because they are much easier to control and don’t have edges that can leave marks. Available in flat face and curved face versions, these slappers are made from oiled hard maple wood and have no-mar leather facings. This Dagger Tools video explains when and how to use a slapper.

Summit Racing also carries other neat Dagger Tools products like edge deburring scrapers, butt-weld alignment clamps, and tipping wheels for use with bead rollers.
