Diamond Pistons Modern Muscle Series Pistons: Race-Bred Performance for Late Model Engines

Diamond Pistons are bred for racing. The company has been supplying pistons for NHRA Pro Stock since the early 1970s; every KB Racing engine built for Greg Anderson and Jason Line’s championship-winning cars has had Diamond pistons in its cylinder bores.

That racing technology is in the DNA of Diamond’s Modern Muscle Series pistons for GM LS and Ford Coyote engines. Forged and machined in the USA, the pistons are made from 2618 aluminum alloy that can handle the very high temperatures and cylinder pressures big horsepower, boosted, and nitrous-fed engines see. Other features include:

• 3D milling on piston crowns for uniform deck thickness and durability without added weight
• Fully machined under-crown for maximum strength
• Side gas ports for better ring seal
• Moly skirt coating to reduce friction and wear
• Wrist pins and locks included

LS Competition Series Pistons
Rated to 1,200 horsepower, these pistons for Gen III and Gen IV engines have a valve pocket design that is compatible with most aftermarket cylinder heads and offset pins for quiet operation. A 1.2mm x 1.2mm x 3.0mm ring package is included. Compression ratios are calculated using a .040 inch thick head gasket.

LS2K Series Pistons
These pistons are designed for LSX-style engines with 12-degree aftermarket cylinder heads. They have side gas ports for better ring seal, a 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 3.0mm ring package with stainless steel top rings, and H-13 tool steel wrist pins chamfered for round wire locks. Compression ratios are calculated using a 0.053 inch thick head gasket. They're rated to 2,000 horsepower.

MOD2K Coyote Series Pistons
Made for Ford Coyote engines with DI (Direct Injection) cylinder heads rated up to 2,000 horsepower, the MOD2K pistons have side gas ports for better ring seal, a 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 3.0mm ring package, and H-13 tool steel wrist pins chamfered for round wire locks. Compression ratios are calculated using a .040 inch thick head gasket at 8.937 inch deck height. Factory piston oil squirters must be removed when using these pistons.

Summit Racing also carries Diamond Modern Muscle pistons for the Toyota 2JZGTE twin-turbo inline six cylinder engine out of the 1993-98 Supra. It’s popular swap bait for just about any Japanese rear-wheel drive car that has room for it.
