DIY Your Own Airbag Suspension with Slam Specialties Components

Sometimes, the best way to get a project done is to do it your own self. If that project happens to be a custom airbag suspension, you’ll want to see our selection of Slam Specialties air springs, controllers, air valves, and other components. Slam Specialties is the choice of builders like Mike Finnegan of Finnegan’s Garage, Jeremy Rice of Tre5 Customs, and West Coast Customs—folks that don’t mess around with inferior parts.

SS and RE Series Air Springs
These air springs have a non-ballooning, double-bellow design with internal bump stops for maximum strength and durability. They also have a single 1/2 inch NPT port machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with steel threaded inserts.

The SS Series springs are rated to 250 PSI and feature composite end plates. The RE Series springs are rated at 200 PSI and have chemically bonded aluminum/zinc end plates. Both are available in 5.5, 6, 7, and 8 inch diameters.

MC.1 and MC.2 Air Spring Controllers
These controllers let you control up to four air springs (eight valves) individually. The microprocessor and solid state drivers offer fast, reliable response, and the control unit and receiver communicate through a single wire for easy installation.

The MC.1 controller comes with an eight-button handheld controller. The MC.2 has a touchpad-style control unit with a billet aluminum case with LED-backlit buttons, and also allows four-corner control when used with Slam Specialties’ SV-8 air manifold.

Air Manifolds
Summit Racing offers two Slam Specialties air manifolds. The SV-4C-4 is a two-corner manifold for front-and-back control of your air springs. It has a black anodized aluminum body, two each of 1/4 inch fill, exhaust, and bag ports, and 1/8 inch gauge ports.

The SV-8C is a four-corner manifold with 3/8 inch push-connect fill and bag ports, and a 3/8 inch slot-style exhaust port with integral mufflers. It also has a wiring harness with a watertight plug.

Summit Racing also carries Slam Specialties air spring brackets in universal-fit and vehicle-specific kits for popular GM cars and trucks; universal rear four-link kits; air manifold wiring harnesses; and more.
