Feed Your Late-Model Mustang all the Air It Wants with a S&B Filters Cold Air Intake

There are two ways to increase the amount of air your engine consumes. You can increase volumetric airflow (measured in CFM)—stroking the engine to increase its displacement, for example—or increasing air density by pulling cold air into the engine with minimal pressure loss.

Delivering cold, dense air is what these new S&B Filters Cold Air Intakes for 2015-2021 Mustangs are all about. S&B designed them to pull cold air from outside of the car’s engine compartment and feed it to the engine through large diameter tubing and a huge filter element for maximum airflow. The intake tube has minimal bends to further decrease restriction compared to stock.

S&B gives you a choice of an eight-layer oiled cotton gauze element or a dry media element. The cotton element can be cleaned and reused; the disposable dry element is good for 15,000 miles of highway driving, and you can hit it with compressed air to remove dirt and extend its life. Both flow similar amounts of air so there is no performance difference.

Since heat is the enemy of dense air, S&B puts the filter element in a fully enclosed, one-piece air box to protect it from high underhood temperatures. That box has a clear lid with a silicone rubber seal that lets you check on the filter element without exposing it to heat. S&B even includes a vented lid that feeds more air to the filter element for an extra boost of airflow.
