Fidanza Performance Clutches, Flywheels, and Cam Gears: Built Better By Racing
Lou Fidanza was a racer through and through. The founder of Fidanza Performance was the designer and builder of the famous ‘Ole 19’ Jaguar E-Type that scored 11 consecutive SCCA national wins—and with Freddy Baker behind the wheel, quashed Paul Newman’s factory backed Nissan 280ZX at the 1980 SCCA National Championships.
That racing experience is reflected in Fidanza Performance clutch kits, flywheels, and cam gears. Take a look.
Qwik-Rev Clutch Kits
Qwik-Rev Clutch Kits feature a V-Series clutch and a matched aluminum flywheel that together weigh less than a standard clutch with a steel flywheel. Less weight means faster acceleration, quicker throttle response, and increased clutch efficiency.
All Fidanza clutch assemblies are computer balanced to help reduce vibration and noise, and to ensure smooth operation. The clutch discs have steel backed linings for increased burst strength and premium friction materials for better engagement, increased heat resistance, faster recovery, and extended clutch life.
What’s more, the flywheel has a bolt-on steel friction plate so it’s easily rebuilt—just replace the worn plate with a new one. That saves you money.
Qwik-Rev Clutch Kits are available with your choice of clutches—the V1 full-face organic disc for street use or the V2 six-paddle ceramic disc for serious street performance and racing. Both clutches have a sprung hub design to reduce vibration, lower engagement shock, and deliver quieter operation.
All Qwik-Rev Clutch Kits come with an alignment tool, and most kits include a throwout bearing. They’re available for popular Chevy, Ford, Honda, Nissan, Pontiac, Scion, and Subaru performance cars.
Billet Aluminum Flywheels
These are the same flywheels Fidanza uses in its Qwik-Rev Clutch Kits. They weigh 40 to 60 percent less than OEM-style flywheels, providing these benefits:
• Faster throttle response and quicker acceleration
• Additional horsepower to the wheels from reduced parasitic losses
• Smoother, faster shifting
• Easier braking due to reduced rotational mass
• Better heat dissipation—reduces clutch wear and improves efficiency
The flywheel bodies are CNC-machined from 6061 T6 heat-treated aluminum. The replaceable steel friction plates are made from 1051 steel. To replace a worn plate, just unbolt it from the body and slide in a new one; that saves you the cost and hassle of resurfacing a plate or replacing an entire flywheel.
The friction plate bolts to the flywheel body with aircraft-quality, self-locking hardware. Stepped dowels lock the friction plate and body together. Summit Racing has Fidanza aluminum flywheels for over 200 applications, so chances are good we have one for you.
Adjustable Cam Gears
Precisely set cam timing with Fidanza Adjustable Cam Gears. They are CNC-machined from 6061 T6 aluminum so they fit better and hold better tolerances than the factory gears. The gears offer 12 degrees of advance and retard, and use stainless steel socket head studs with locking nuts and washers on the front side of the gear for easier, quicker adjustability.
Other features include beveled outer gear teeth for increased belt life, laser-etched timing marks, and a hard anodized coating in silver, red, or blue. The cam gears are available for popular domestic and import engines.
Summit Racing also carries Fidanza V1 and V2 clutches, billet and nodular iron flywheels, and short-throw shifters.
