Galfer Brake Systems Motorcycle Braking Components Now Available at Summit Racing

Galfer Brake Systems got its start waaay back in 1946 making brake components for European motorcycle manufacturers. The company entered the American market in the 1990s when Giorgio Milesi, son of the founder and a former Moto Guzzi factory rider, put down roots in California. Now riders on both sides of the Atlantic can enjoy more responsive braking using Galfer components.

Summit Racing carries Galfer brake pads, rotors, and brake line kits for sport bikes, cruisers, trail and motocross bikes, and ATV/UTV vehicles. Here are a few currently available.

Wave Rotors
The Wave Rotor design was invented by Galfer in the early 1990s to solve the problem of water and mud getting on the brake rotor surfaces of trial competition motorcycles. During development, Galfer also found that the design allowed air to pass over every point of a brake pad surface, removing heat that reduces braking effectiveness. It was a good day.

Features
• Laser-cut from 420 high carbon stainless steel
• Heat-treated for specific applications
• Parallel double-disc ground for true parallel surfaces
• Lower weight and better heat dissipation
• Cleaner pad-to-disc contact surface for improved braking
• Improved brake lever feel and feedback

Summit Racing carries Galfer Wave Rotors for most popular Japanese and European sport bikes, Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, and motocross and Superbike racing. The rotors have a six month limited warranty when used with Galfer pads, even for racing use.

Brake Pads
Summit Racing offers two types of Galfer brake pads:

HH Series Sintered Ceramic Brake Pads are ideal for aggressive street riding, canyon carving, track days, and amateur racing. They feature ceramic-coated backing plates and ceramic/metallic composite pads that can handle higher temperatures than semi-metallic carbon brake pads. The HH-rated friction compounds deliver excellent stopping power, brake feel, and modulation with little to no fade.

Semi-Metallic Carbon Brake Pads are a good all-around pad for street and trail bikes that don’t see a lot of high-speed use and as OEM replacements. The GG-rated friction compound delivers excellent stopping power, and is softer than the high-zoot HH compounds so you’ll notice less rotor wear.

Brake Line Kits
Your brakes are only as good as the lines that control them. Galfer brake line kits use top-quality machined banjo fittings and bolts, plus stainless braided hose that is PVC wrapped for abrasion protection. The banjo fittings are oriented at the factory for an out-of-the-box fit; Galfer even labels the line to make installation easier. Other features include:

• Significantly improved brake feel and response compared to rubber line
• Banjo fittings with machined crush washer channels and sealing surfaces for leak-free installation
• PTFE Dupont 64 Teflon® inner hose doesn’t degrade over time like rubber hose
• 64-strand stainless steel braiding
• Lifetime warranty

Summit Racing carries Galfer brake line kits for sport bikes, cruisers, trail bikes, and racing. We also have brake line kits for ATVs and UTVs.
