Get Precise and Accurate Results with a Rimac Big Blue Valve Spring Tester
In 1930, John J. McGuckin of Passaic, New Jersey patented a valve spring tester and had it built by Rinck-Mcilwaine, Inc.—aka Rimac. Nicknamed Big Blue for its color, the spring tester quickly became the standard for spring testing and calibration; it was accurate, easy to use, and built to last. After a few decades, Big Blue production ceased. The only way to get your hands on one was via auction, with prices often hitting $1,000 or more for well-used models.
But that’s all changed—you can now get a brand new Rimac Big Blue Valve Spring Tester for your shop that offers the same precision and durability as the original. The spring tester uses a high-torque, lever-activated compression mechanism that makes quick work of testing and rating multiple springs at a sitting. The heavy-duty cast aluminum C-frame body can handle spring pressures up to 1,000 pounds, but is light enough to take to the track for on-site spring testing.
Other features include:
• Measures spring pressure from 0 to 1,000 pounds in 5 lb./kg increments
• Adjustable length arm for high-pressure springs
• Positive stop for accurate, repeatable spring height checking
• Large 4 1/4" diameter gauge reads in 0.01" increments
• Ram spring travel: 0 to 4 1/8"
• Signature blue powdercoat finish
