Karting season is upon us, and Summit Racing now carries race apparel and safety gear from K1 RaceGear and Team Valhalla Racing to get your team up and racing comfortably and safely.

K1 RaceGear
When the only thing between you and the ground is—well, nothing, you better have top-notch protective gear. K1 RaceGear makes racing suits, gloves, shoes, chest protectors, and other safety equipment for entry level and professional karting, outdoor and indoor. Here are some examples available at Summit Racing:

GK2 Karting Suits are designed for entry-level racers where CIK-FIA approval is not required. The one-piece suits feature a lightweight, yet protective cotton/polyester shell with knit cuffs plus lower and crotch stretch panels to keep you comfortable. The GK2 Karting Suits are available in black and gray with blue, red, green, or orange stripes in men’s extra-small through 2XL.

GTX K1 Driving Shoes are a mid-top design constructed with soft leather and strategically placed perforated vents for superior comfort and breathability. The lightweight, pre-formed rubber sole offers drivers excellent pedal feel without sacrificing durability. The full canopy tongue lined with knit Nomex is attached to the inner base on each side of the shoe, wrapping the driver's foot for added safety. GTX K1 Driving Shoes are available in black/white, blue/black/white, white/black, and red/black/white in men’s and women’s sizes.

Black Series FLEX Gloves form around your hands and fingers to fit snugly but not too tight, making them very comfortable so you can concentrate on racing. They feature premium two-layer bonded Nomex with a flame-resistant aramid inner lining; minimal externally stitched seams to eliminate discomfort and pressure points; a fire-resistant ultra-grip palm for increased comfort and grip; and a double-stitched tapered wrist enclosure with 180 degree elastic fastener for secure fit. The Black Series FLEX Gloves meet FIA 8856-2000 and SFI 3.3/5 homologation standards and are available in black/white, black/red, black/blue, and black/orange.

Team Valhalla Racing developed one of the first combination rib and chest protectors for karting, and now makes them in the USA for kids and adults plus other safety gear including these:

The Gen4 Armadillo Chest Protector Vests are a rib and chest protector built into one adjustable vest made just for young drivers. The SFI 20.1/2-certified vests provide complete torso coverage to help absorb impact to the chest, rib, and back area. They feature high-energy absorption padding; a reinforced front plate with reverse padding for comfort; a padded back; adjustable side panels; and adjustable cross-straps to prevent lateral or vertical slip during a frontal impact. The Gen4 Armadillo Chest Protector Vests are available in Kid Kart, Junior, Junior II, and Medium sizes.

The 360 Plus Devices provide a stable platform for helping control the movement of the driver's head when needed. They have a molded, glass-filled nylon core and help limit both front and rear hyper-flexion and extreme lateral motion while still allowing the driver unrestricted head rotation. The 360 Plus Devices also have a break-away feature that reduces the chances for serious neck injury if something gets hooked inside the device. The devices also use foam pieces in front instead of plastic to minimize potential injury to the throat area if the head is forced backward. The Team Valhalla Racing 360 Plus Devices are available in youth (10 to 13 inches) and adult (13.5 inches and up) neck sizes.

The Team Valhalla Racing Seat Pad Kit is designed to absorb the most vibration and impacts while the driver is on the track. Team Valhalla says its kit is the most comfortable, and can help fill in the gaps of a seat that is just a bit too big for the driver. Closed-cell construction keeps the foam padding from absorbing water, and Velcro® coins are included to attach the pads to the seat.
