Holley Sniper BBD EFI System for 1971-86 Jeep CJ Now Available at Summit Racing
The 258 cubic inch straight six in your CJ is a great engine. The Carter BBD two-barrel carburetor that graced most 258s was a good air and fuel mixer—in its time. But Holley Sniper’s BBD EFI System will give you better throttle response and more power without the cold start, hesitation, vapor lock, and flooding issues that afflicted the old BBD carburetor.
If you can turn a wrench and read instructions, you can install this system—it’s a complete bolt-on replacement for the BBD carburetor. The system is self-tuning; just use the handheld controller to do initial setup and the ECU will create a base map and fine-tune itself as you drive. And if you use an MSD or similar distributor, the Holley system can handle ignition timing too.
Features include:
• Two-barrel throttle body with two 100 lb./hr. fuel injectors—supports up to 350 horsepower
• Throttle body-mounted ECU—no extra boxes to mount
• Simple four-wire connection (battery positive and negative, switched ignition, and RPM)
• Internal OEM-style fuel pressure regulator—no need to plumb an external regulator
• OEM-style throttle position sensor and idle air control
• Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband oxygen sensor provides real-time fuel map learning
• Clamp-on oxygen sensor with clamps, fits 2.25 inch diameter exhaust tubing
• Controller with high-resolution color touch screen for setup, tuning, and gauge displays
• Inputs for electric fans, A/C relay, aftermarket tach, and Holley EFI gauges
The Holley Sniper BBD EFI system requires a high pressure fuel pump capable of operating at 60 PSI. Holley recommends using an in-tank pump for quieter operation, less chance of cavitation, and a reduction in pump temperature. This instruction manual will show you how to install the system.
