How to Stabilize Your LS Engine’s Valvetrain with Comp Cams XD-A Pushrods
A stable valvetrain means accurate valve timing, especially at higher RPM. COMP Cams' XD-A Pushrods will help you do just that. Designed for GM LS engines with non-adjustable rocker arms, the adjustable pushrods incorporate a top section that slides two inches inside a wider bottom section with one or two shims captured in between. That makes setting lash or pre-load during installation easier, while increasing bending stiffness by 90 percent to improve valvetrain stability.
That increase in bending stiffness also allows you to shed some valvetrain weight by using lighter rocker arms. The combination of less weight and a stable valvetrain means you can wing that engine a lot higher in the RPM range. COMP says the XD-A pushrods can handle 9,000-plus RPM.
COMP Cams XD-A Pushrods are available in sets with these adjustability ranges:
- 7.320 to 7.552 inches
- 7.530 to 7.762 inches
- 7.740 to 7.972 inches
- 7.950 to 8.182 inches
- 8.160 to 8.392 inches
