Howards Cams Track Smart Forged H-Beam Connecting Rods: Race Quality Parts at a Great Price

Sometimes you need a part that’s better than average, but not as fancy-schmancy as a full-race one. That’s what Howards Cams Track Smart Connecting Rods are. Designed for serious street and sportsman race engines, the H-beam rods are forged and CNC-machined from certified 4340 high tensile steel. They are heat-treated using a special process to ensure strength and reliability, then fully stress-relieved and shot peened to ensure no stress risers remain.

Howards Cams realized a common failure most forged rods suffer from is weak rod bolts. They fitted the Track Smart rods with 7/16-inch ARP 2000 cap screws—the same type used in Howards’ Ultra Duty billet steel rods—to solve that problem. Other features include:

• Double ribbed caps for greater rod bearing support
• Rod cap alignment dowels keep bearing caps precisely aligned
• Bronze bushing for floating wrist pins
