When a single-adjustable coil-over is tuned, you are adjusting both the rebound and the compression dampening at the same rate. This means that the coil-over will be stiffer or looser in both directions the shock shaft moves. Double-adjustable coil-overs give you more control because you can adjust the compression and rebound rates independently.
