JJ's Rods E-Z Firewall Boots Now Available at Summit Racing
If you have a street rod, chances are good you’ve had dust, heat, and fumes sneak into the cockpit thanks to an ill-fitting—or non-existent—boot on the steering column or the brake and clutch pedals. JJ’s Rods proprietor Jeff Johnson sure did, and he came up with an ingenious solution. His E-Z Firewall Boots feature rubber boots (JJ’s calls them grommets) with a trim ring bezel. The boots come in several sizes to fit around steering columns and the brake and clutch pedal rods, sealing the cockpit from the engine compartment and tidying up the appearance of your interior. JJ’s says installation takes a matter of minutes with simple hand tools, and goes even faster with the right power tools.
JJ’s Rods E-Z Firewall Boots are available individually or in combos that include the column and brake/clutch rod boots. Summit Racing also carries JJ’s E-Z Firewall Boots for running wiring or cable into the cockpit; the boot accommodates hole sizes from 5/16 to one inch in diameter.
You should also check out JJ’s cool Brake Pedal Return Spring. Unlike the small spring inside most master cylinders, the 304 stainless steel spring is strong enough to return your brake pedal to its resting position. Mounting tabs are included.
