Keep the Engine Oil Flowing with a Peterson Fluid Systems R4 Oil Pump
You won’t have to worry about feeding your race engine enough oil at the proper pressure with a Peterson Fluid Systems R4 Oil Pump. That’s because they have four-lobe, 60-degree-helix rotors in the pressure and scavenge sections. Very similar to a Roots supercharger design, the rotors produce excellent oil pressure at both idle and wide-open throttle. The aluminum rotors also save a significant amount of weight compared to heavy steel rotors.
Other features include:
• CNC-machined 6061 T-6 billet aluminum sections
• Tab mounting system to save weight
• Low profile design to fit in tight spaces
• Shallow-depth screw-in fittings reduce pump profile to better fit in tight spaces
• Rear-drive mount compatible with popular rear-drive power steering and fuel pumps
R4 Wet Sump Oil Pumps are single-stage pumps available in your choice of standard-volume or high-volume versions. Summit Racing also offers R4 Wet-Vac single-stage pumps with a Star Machine Hex Rotor vacuum pump that outflows and produces higher peak vacuum than comparable vacuum pumps.
R4 Dry Sump Oil Pumps are available with two to eight stages, or sections. Each pump has one pressure section with the rest being scavenging sections. For example, a four-stage pump has one pressure section and three scavenging sections. The pumps are available in standard-volume and high-volume versions.
You’re going to need an oil tank, too. Peterson Oil Tanks are fully baffled to separate air from the scavenged oil while maintaining a tall column of oil over the pickup. Summit Racing also carries tanks for drag racing with an integrated catch can or fittings for an external breather and Dirt Late Model tanks with an integral, spin-on return oil filter and dipstick.
We suggest getting a Peterson Scavenge Filter too. Plumb one in the suction lines of your dry sump pump to keep nasty stuff out if the engine goes kerflooey. The filters feature a billet aluminum housing and a coarse stainless screen element that keeps junk out without restricting oil flow. They’re available with -8, -10, -12, and -16 AN inlets and outlets.
Summit Racing also carries other Peterson Fluid Systems oiling system components including pressure relief valves; oil filter mounts and brackets; manifolds; and breathers.
