Keep Your Electric Vehicle Ready to Go with an EVOCHARGE Charging Station
If you’re the patient type, you can charge your electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle with the Level 1 charger you got from the manufacturer that runs on 120 volt household current. But if patience is not one of your virtues or you just want to make sure your vehicle is fully charged and ready when you need it, Summit Racing offers EVOCHARGE Charging Stations. The Level 2 chargers can fill your vehicle with electrons up to eight times faster than a Level 1 charger. Typical charging time for a Level 2 EV charger is around 3-8 hours to full; the average Level 1 charger will take 11-20 hours to fully charge a vehicle. Quite a difference.
The EVOCHARGE Charging Stations plug into any standard 240 volt outlet, or you can have it hardwired to your home’s wiring system by a qualified electrician. They have a universal SAE J1772 charging plug that is compatible with virtually all EVs made. If you have a Tesla, you can use an EVOCHARGE with the appropriate J1772-to-Tesla adapter.
Other features include:
• 7.2 to 7.7 kW output
• Small footprint—units are smaller than an 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of paper
• NEMA 4-rated for indoor and outdoor use
• Can withstand temperatures from -22° F to 122° F
Summit Racing carries three versions of the EVOCHARGE Charging Station:
The EVSE stations are for people that just want to plug a charger into their vehicles and let it do its job. The EVSE stations are available with an 18-foot or 25-foot cable. If you like things neat and clean, you can get a station with a 25-foot cable and a cable retractor.
The iEVSE and iEVSE Plus stations can be used as a simple plug-in charger; if your local electric provider has an EV program that can potentially save you money on electricity, either charger can connect to the provider network via the standard OCPP network protocol or WiFi. The difference between them is that the iEVSE Plus has 4G capability. Both come with a 25-foot cable and are available with a cable retractor.
If you want to do a deep-dive into charging station technology and features, the EVOCHARGE website has a wealth of information to help you choose the right charger.
