King XP-Series Coated Rod and Main Bearings Can Handle Hot Street and Race Engines
King Engine Bearings has made nothing but engine bearings since 1960, so it stands to reason their XP-Series Coated Rod and Main Bearings are some of the best you can use for your high-performance street or race engine.
The bearings are designed for engines that see continued, sustained stress. The tri-metal bearings have King’s pMaxBlack™ structure. This uses a copper/lead babbit layer and a nickel barrier layer over a steel backing. The layers are bonded to the backing with King’s SecureBond adhesion process that provides superior stability and durability. The result is a 29 percent increase in overlay hardness and a 24 percent increase in load capacity compared to similar bearings.
XP-Series Rod Bearings are narrowed on the crank cheek side with increased crush height for improved bearing-to-bore contact, heat transfer, and reduced spin potential in high-RPM applications.
XP-Series Main Bearings feature enlarged chamfered oil holes with a choice of full, 3/4-, or 1/2- grooving to promote better oiling. They’re also narrowed to accommodate large radius crankshafts.
The bearings have King’s pMaxKote™ polymer coating. The coating’s ceramic nano-composite particles function as a fourth layer, significantly improving resistance to wear, cavitation, and seizure. The coating also provides additional protection against oil starvation. pMaxKote does not change the bearing’s original wall dimensions or make the bearing surface any thicker—something not all coated bearings can say.
King Engine Bearings XP-Series Coated Rod and Main Bearings are available in standard sizes and a wide range of over- and undersizes for popular Chevy, Ford, and Mopar V8s.
Summit Racing also carries King Bearing XPG-Series Coated Rod and Main Bearings for Subaru four-cylinder boxer engines from 1990 through 2019.
