KW Suspension Variant Coilover Kits: Road Race Technology for Late Model Muscle

KW Suspension sure knows how to make a good coilover suspension. You’ll find KW suspension bits on winning road racing cars, and that experience is reflected in its Variant Coilover Kits for street and track day applications. KW makes application-specific kits that offer increasing levels of adjustability.

If you want to bolt on something and go, choose the Variant 1 kit. If you do the occasional track day or autocross, a Variant 2 or 3 offers rebound and rebound/compression adjustability. If you’re lucky enough to have a Hellcat Challenger or a C8 Corvette, the Variant 4 and 5 kits offer race car levels of adjustability but can be easily set for high performance street use.

The Variant 1 through 4 kits feature KW’s “inox-line” twin-tube coilovers with corrosion-resistant stainless steel bodies. The composite/stainless steel lower spring seat/height adjusters run on dirt-resistant, trapezoidal-cut threads in the coilover body for smooth operation year after year. If you’ve ever dealt with gummed-up or oxidized aluminum adjusters on aluminum or steel coilovers, you’ll love this feature.

Other features include:
• Chrome-silicon steel springs tuned specifically for each application
• Composite or aluminum upper spring seat minimizes noise caused by spring vibration
• Elastomer bump stops to ensure good ride quality

KW Suspension Variant Coilover Kits come with assembled struts and shocks for front and rear plus mounting hardware.

Variant 1 Coilover Kits
Variant 1 kits have non-adjustable coilovers with rebound/compression settings and spring rates tuned for each application to deliver excellent street performance and good ride quality. Ride height is fully adjustable. Kits are available for 2005-20 Mustang, 2010-12 Camaro, and 2008-21 Dodge Challenger/Charger.

Variant 2 Coilover Kits for Dodge Challenger and Charger
These kits feature coilovers that have 16 low-speed rebound adjustment settings. You can fine-tune the level of handling and ride comfort to your liking, or adjust the suspension when you switch from summer-only to winter tires. Variant 2 kits are available for 2008-19 Dodge Challenger and 2006-21 Charger.

Variant 3 Coilover Kits
These kits allow you to independently adjust both low-speed rebound and compression to counter pitch and roll during load changes when cornering or accelerating. For example, more compression damping helps optimize tire grip and improve cornering behavior without affecting rebound damping. Variant 3 kits are available for these vehicles:
• 1997-21 Corvette
• 2012-21 Camaro
• 2005-21 Mustang

Variant 4 Coilover Kit for 2015-18 Dodge Challenger Hellcat
Variant 4 kits have three way-adjustable coilovers—rebound, low-speed compression, and high-speed compression. The ability to independently adjust low- and high-speed compression allows you to fine-tune the suspension for tracks with abrupt changes in pavement (smooth straight to rough curve, for example) to maintain maximum tire grip, cornering ability, and braking performance.

Variant 5 Coilover Kits for C8 Corvette
Designed with solid-piston shock technology from road racing, the Variant 5 coilovers have adjustable low- and high-speed compression and rebound settings to provide precise control over the amount of uncontrolled and unwanted suspension movement. This solid piston design also provides more ‘platform,’, or support, to the chassis than conventional dampers. That means you can use a lower-rate spring to improve handling and grip.

Summit Racing also carries KW Suspension Club Sport Coilover Kits for Mustang, Corvette, and Camaro, HAS ride height-adjustable coil springs for Dodge Challenger and Charger, and the HLS Lift Kit that allows you to electrically lift the front end of your C5 or C6 Corvette to clear speed bumps and other obstacles.
